Here is a money saving tip. In a condition where vehicle parts get damaged by outside forces, Comprehensive car insurance will cover the repair of those damages. Unlike Collision, Comprehensive coverage often has little or no deductibles.

Melted parts and smells resulting from them can be fixed. Strongly point out that burnt plastic compounds release toxic fumes and can Permeate into the ductwork and interior of the vehicle. Besides the Health hazard potentials, a strange smelling car may not sell or have the same appeal to anyone else.

This argument may get your car "detailed" which is a Commercial cleaning like when a used car is put on a Retail lot. The melted parts should also be covered as long as the evidence of Animal chewing is present.

Since vehicles are built in sections, small components are easily replaced; HOWEVER, an electrical incident should be DOCUMENTED as other components tied into the affected area could be damaged by the change in electrical current traveling through the wiring. There are many fuses and Relays in a vehicle, but the wires are meant to remain separate. Any melting can cross connect wires which were never intended to touch each other. This would prevent the safety fuses from limiting damage.

Call your car insurance company. Also check for Towing and Car Rental.

The battery in our 5th wheel Grand Design Solitude 369RL was boiling hot and actually spilled acid!

A bad short to the ground, which is the frame or bodywork of the car. Disconect the battery so It doesn't drain. I find a very careful visual inspection with a bright led flashlight in the dark may reveal wires touching body metal. Did Dealer do anything with the battery? Or what was the service done? Be sure to mark location of short if you find it. If dealer did any electrical work, that may also be source of the short.

2004 chevrolet classic 2.2l won't start, maybe have a short circuit on positive wire, circuit, because make nothing no radio no lights inside and outside I check battery is ok fuses is ok, looks st

If you have positive battery cable that is shorted, fix it. A dead short to ground should smoke it or get very hot. Check ground, also.
Use a test lite, ignition bat fuse 1 and 2, underhood fuse block, Should be hot all the time. Voltage and ground, both, are important.

2007 peugeot 207 fuse box buzzing sound

Electricity buzzes when it hits high resistance. If it is making things turn on, there is most likley a short, or a bad relay causing a short. Look for damaged or tampered with wiring. Hope rats didn't chew through happens.

My car will not start consistently. Just got a new battery, altenator and starter look good. Something does smell like burned electrical tape after trying to start and once or twice I have seen a vis

If your smelling wires that is a sign of a poor ground or wires touching somthing like exhaust.could be the fusible link. Where is the spark you are seeing? And what do you mean the starter and alternator look good? They have to be tested !

I have a 2010 hhr. My battery dies if the door is open for just a couple of minutes.

Whoa! are you serious? If it drains the battery that fast, you either have a few dead cells in the battery, or there is a short circuit in the door switch.

If it was the switch you could seriously smell something cooking among the wires. 600+amps dead short through an 18 gauge wire = melted insulation and red glowing copper! (also known as fire hazzard)
Since you didn't mention smelling anything or electrical frying sounds, I'm leaning toward a bad battery. Have the battery tested at your local autozone for free. It should still be under warranty methinks.

Hope this helps you out.

Fuel pump is your problem, done replaced my girls once and fixing to do it again! Its crazy that GM being as they are would put 22gauge wires that run to the pump. Basicly the pump is starving for current and burns its self up.My 12volt experience would say it needs a relay and 12gauge wire setup using the factory wire as a trigger for the new relay which will draw power from a fused 12 gauge wire from the battery.along with a solid clean pump ground 12 guage.

Why does my 70 amp fuse keeps blowing on my 91 integra

Do you have a big stereo system installed? Or a car alarm. If so, something is drawing on the current from your battery and shorting out the fuse. In other words, a positive (or hot wire) is possibly grounding out on the frame or some other location on the car. Check as much wiring as you can possible see. Look for evidence of mice or squirrels. They chew wiring a lot for some reason.

2001 mazda protege battery overheating - bad smell....., not catalytic converter . 1.6l.

You need to get the alternator output checked. If you can smell something like rotten eggs then what you are smelling is hydrogen gas which is explosive !! Batteries get hot and smell because the alternator is charging at too high a level. Check the output with a multimeter across the battery with the engine running. If it reads higher then 14.4 volts, its the alternator and you need to fix it as overcharging of your battery will cause total failure (if it has not already screwed your battery)..
