Heat won't blow on floor when in floor position on 2002 chevy s10

When in floor mode the heat blows out the defrost instead of the floor

How to I get to the vacuum line for the heater selector switch? I have the same problem as another poster and need to replace or fix the line for floor heat. It only works right now on vent or defrost. I am hoping I do not have to take the dash apart. Any help would be great!

    Thank You

I have same problem so which color vac line was it? Was the vac line the problem?

I have a 2003 S-10 which at times blows little to no heat and at times blows normally. I also noticed when only the floor heat is on, there is also heat flow through dash ducts.

If this is a vacuum tube problem any suggests where I should look first?

    Thanks!!!

I checked all the lines out and I did not see a tear or crack. Does anyone know what color the vacuum hose to the floor is? I seen six and they are (brown, grey, black, yellow, blue, orange ) I am getting excellent heat from vent and defroster but when I switch to floor or floor/defrost it is all defrost. It almost seem to me that the diaphragm maybe getting stuck. I am getting great vacuum on the line that I checked except the orange one located behind the glove box.

Your dial in your truck works off of a small vacuum line switching the gate for flow. I had the same problem in my s10 truck and it seemed like after a minute or so i would finally work. Come to find out there was a small rip in the hose next to the dial causing a leak.

2002 Chevy S10 blows warm air on all settings unless it is set for the vents I replaced the thermostat as had code for bad thermostat

You may have a problem with the blend door motors on the side of the heater box. As one other person said: "Look at the controls right above the driver's feet area toward the heater box". If they are moving properly all the way, when you move the selectors on the dash, then there may be a problem inside the heater box. If they don't move all the way, then the blend door motors may be bad or binding. Another common problem on these is the control head on the dash not working properly. The control head can be diagnosed with a scanner that can read codes for it. Hope this helps out.

The blower on my a/c on 2002 chevy trailblazer only blows from the floor vents and the defroster vents but not the dashboard vents how can this be fixed. Also, it only works on 5

It sounds like you have two problems. First a question though; Is your heating and air conditioning control on the dash automatic (has two knobs that rotate and a display screen in the middle), or manual (has two levers that move up and down for driver/passenger temp and a separate fan knob and mode knob).

In response to the vents being stuck on defrost and floor, from experience i can say that the most likely cause is the mode actuator has failed. If your battery has recently gone dead, that could have brought the problem to the surface. When the battery has gone dead, the heating and air conditioning controls relearn all the positions of the actuators behind the dash when the vehicle has been re-started. If there is a position sensor failing (which happens quite often) in one of the actuators, the heating and air conditioning controls won't be able to learn the correct position of the actuator and (in your case) defaults to the defrost/floor position.

The only way to fix that would be to replace the actuator. I would like to know what type of heating and air conditioning controls you have (manual or automatic) before i say anything on the blower only working on 5.
