Question about 1998 Jeep Cherokee

1 Answer

A/C only works on high. 1998 Jeep Cherokee.

I have a 1998 Jeep Cherokee. The other day my A/C was working fine then the next day it would only work on high. It is ice cold on high and it was working fine on the other speeds before the problem. Any ideas would be helpful.
Thanks

Replace the blower motor resistor. the resistor burns out on the low settings and the only speed left is high because it can handle more current. i have replaced hundreds. i do at least 10-15 a week

Sounds like an electrical problem; look for loose, corroded or kinked/broken wires. The problem is most likely in the dash wiring/connections and seems to be pretty common in jeeps.

Did you use a wiring adapter? this plugs into the stock system to properly power the trailer lights. the other thing is you could have a short to ground in the trailer wiring, especially where it comes out under the jeep.

Fan motor switch on 98 jeep cherokee only works on high

In many cases this is the result of the blower motor resistor having gone bad. They are often located in the housing that holds the blower motor but I cannot say 100% for sure with the Jeep Cherokee.
