Overhating me and my partner have a mitshibishi fto and recently its been laying up, if we turn off the ignition and leave it for a while it wont start up properly and the other day he was driving to work and his temperature gauge went to red then when he pulled over and turned off the ignition the engine steamed even though its been freezing cold weather recently, he doesnt thrash the car around as this is a common problem with ths car can anyone shed any light on this? thanks Aneliese x

If it overheats - check the radiator that it is getting hot. it's possible the thermostat has failed and is not opening alowing it to cool properly. Replace it if it has failed.

Check that you are not using water/ coolant, or have a leak.
If there is no leak, but you are loosing coolant, first check the oil level - if it reads very high - suspect coolant is getting into the oilways.Or if there is oil in the coolant - it really needsa new head gasket.

  1. Check radiator is getting warm when car is warm.
  2. Check coolant and oil levels. Unexplained losses , gains or mixing requires a new head gasket.

2002 Olds Olero /replace ignition switch

remove your radio, there will be 2 bolts to undo, switch will slide into dash, unplug harness turn key to remove cable, if ignition wont turn you may have to take ignition apart to remove cable. reinstall in reverse procedure. will need to relearn new key to be able to start. try to start, leave key in run position, theft/security light will be blinking. leave on for 15 min or light stops blinking, turn off turn back to run without trying to start. leave on for another 15 min. turn off then start

How can i disable the immobiliser on my fto. The key fob has broken and it wont let me start the engine :-(

Is the alarm / immobilizer factory or aftermarket? If it's aftermarket you will either have to purchase and program a new key fob or completely remove the system and reconnect which ever cuts were made in the wiring.

the loss of power I was experiencing was because the secondary was not working. The vacuum was not strong enough to open the secondary.
I found a stronger vacuum and hooked it up there. Still need to fine tune the adjustments on the Carb. Have twice the power I had but still need adjusting.

Toyota power van wont start after replacing fuel pump

did it start befor you replaced the fuel pump, there should be a fuse for pump in the fuse box, It may have went into default mode, is the pump working when you turn on ignition, open fuel line up front, put hose in can, have someone turn on ignition switch, fuel should flow, if it does, your problem lays elsewhere,

Headlight lens laquer on my mitsubishi fto is flaking can this be repaired or does the lens just clip off to fit a replacement

I have fixed this on my own FTO. I used wet&dry sandpaper, followeed by rubbing compound, followed by polish. it's important to polish the light every month afterwards to maintain the shine.
I heard that Brasso brass cleaner is good for this too, but I've never tried it myself. There is a full guide on how to repair peeling headlights in the knowledgebase on www.fto-ireland.com
