Question about 2000 Volkswagen Passat 4Motion
There is a small switch at the base of the handbrake lever, if u pull the rubber boot back u will see it, the switch turns off when the little spring plunger is pushed down in that switch, many times the switch bracket gets bent and then the handbrake lever fails to depress the plunger and the light stays on check it, if u depress the switch with your finger and the light doesn't go out u may have a grounded wire to the switch, in that case u will need to pull the boot off to trace the wire and find the damaged section..
