Question about 2003 Mitsubishi Galant

2002 mitsubishi heater not working

When the nob was on the heat side-and i would hear a clicking sound-the heater would work-no click no heat. and where is the heater control valve. We have a 2003 Gallant with the same problem with the heat. Last year, the heater did not work, this year, the temp selector is working normally and we have heat. The temp control valve sounds difficult to get to. Anyone have any idea how long ($$) it takes a mechanic to change this valve?

Approx. $200-250 - takes less than an hour to replace if that part is the problem

My windstar is a 99 it has no heat and you can hear a clicking sound under the center console. any ideas.

Temp . blend door actuator . The clicking is the stripped plastic gears in side the actuator . The actuator is a electric motor that controls the temp. blend door . Could be a video on youtube on replacing it .

Hearter temp control was blowing too hot, now only blows cold

Clicking sound you hear is the worn brushes in your blower motor. At this point the blower moter may or may not start with the switch. THe blower motor is faulty so I would change that first, then check for vacuum leaks or faulty selector cable for the heat blend door. It could have came off door side or heater control side.

Cold air only from heater

first check temp gauge on dash is it normal if so termostat is fine than check the heater hoses going inside from engine compartment if they are hot rule out control valve if it in the engine compartment sit in the vehicle and listen for any noise when you move heater temp switch from cold to hot if you hear clicking noises and no change it may be blend door accutator with moves when you slide or turn heat control nob the heater may have to be removed on some models eexpensive repair may be needed

When moving temp control knob to right for heat, makes something makes clicking sound and no heat .

Sounds like your Heater Control cable has given way. When you turn the knob, its supposed to pull a cable that operates the heater control valve. Either the heater control valve is bad, or the cable needs to be repaired or replaced.

Hi my heater on my mitsubishi galant 03 heater isnt working before this happend we were hearing a clicking noise when we turned it to heat.

Same problem I had for over a year...A mechanic might try to tell you it is simply the heater core (don't fall for it). There is a control under the dash that operates the temperature gauge. Basically that control is gone and must be replaced before you do have a heater core problem (which you will know, usually once your car overheats or you smell antifreeze). I know money is tough but i think price ranges on this to be done as more manual labor is required than replacing the actual part itself. You are looking at roughly $300.00.

No heat

This sounds like one of two things, either there is not enough coolant in the system, or the heater control system is messed up. try this, with your car running at about 205 degrees (feel the upper radiator hose, it should be hot to the touch) grab both of the hoses going into the heater core behind the engine, the should be warm to hot. if they're not warm at all, or just luke warm, you either don't have enough coolant, or the hoses are blocked somewhere. if there is a valve in line with one of the hoses, try to operate it by hand, sometimes those valves (called heater valves) fail.

if the coolant is full and there is hot coolant in both hoses going into the heater core, then you're controls inside are likely the problem. try to turn the heat control from cold to hot and back again a few times, you should be able to hear a clapping sound,it might be very faint, so listen carefully. if you can't hear anything, it's likely the controls itself, unless you hear a hissing sound from behind the dash when you turn the control, that would be a vaccuum line unhooked. you'll have to pull some panels under the dash to find this vaccuum line to hook it up, but it's not too hard , just takes patience. (it's more common for a heater control to go first)

2002 mitsubishi heater not working

I just spent my whole day with the same problem and it looks as if alot of other people have too. You need to replace the control valve. Take your glove box out, then take your center console peice out. Then you have to take the passenger side plastic off. This is the peice that surrounds the glove box. Once you have done this if you look underneath the dash towards the center console you will see a little box with an arm on it that goes down to an aluminium hose. That little box with the arm is the control valve.

This is a heater vent motor.

About $84.00 from dealer, pain in the *** to change behind the radio, but worth doing it yourself.
