Check for electric short.
if you have factory or after market alarm, that may be the cause.

Alternater wont charge battery and fusable link on starter keeps burning

Bad voltage regulator. Usually built-into alternator.
Start car and unplug battery, if it dies your alternator is dead. Get new alternator. If car keeps running, get a voltmeter and check voltage coming through - should be higher than 12v but less than 18v. Any other number means your voltage regulator is dead, cheaper to get a new alternator.

Alternator is not charging battery and it is brand new...what is the possibility of voltage regulator being bad?

There's a very good possibility the voltage regulator is bad, but it's on the alternator and usually the whole alternator is replaced when this happens..

How come my 1991 honda prelude does not hold charge?

Because the battery is going dead. If the alternator was at fault, the car would die after 3 hrs or less of driving, and it wouldnt restart. Same with the voltage regulator. The only culprit when a car starts like it was the last time, is when the battery is getting charged, but it is unable to hold it. If you turn off car, and restart it right away, and it sounds fine, it is one more indication of an exhausted battery.

Hello my 1992 prelude battry warning ligt stays on wat does this mean

Either your battery is bad or your alternator is not charging the battery correctly. Start the engine then remove the Negative battery terminal. If the vehicle dies you need to have the alternator replaced. If not then replace the battery.

1992 prelude si - battery/alternator prob?

if you can charge the battery and drive it for a while then sounds like the altenator has failed and is not re-charging the battery, good way to test is to charge the battery, start the car and turn the light on, if everything is dimm or the motor dies there is little to no charge voltage, and will require altenator work

BATTERY DIES OUT IN 2-3 DAYS.

are you saying that you got this battery from autozone? I went thru three batteries in a week from autozone because the lot# was bad. It,'s quite possible that you have either a short that is draining the battery or that the alternator isnt charging properly. To do a fast check, start the car then remove the positive battery cable with the car running. If it stays running, theres a chance its ok. If it dies, It's most likely the alternator or the voltage regulator Diods. On most cars, the voltage regulator is built into the alternator. I would take it to autozone and have the charging system checked

My honda prelude stalled an now the stater is makins a funny nois and the moter wont turn over wat do i do

sounds like you have a dead battery and possible a bad altenator have the battery checked out and replace if bad. If not recharge and if the car starts have the charging system checked out you may have a bad altenator or voltage regulator probably built in the altenator. Possibly the starter but not likely since it stalled while running.

1984 honda prelude battery on

Do u have the carbureted or fuel injected model? (both were available that year) The carb. model has a separate voltage regulator which is mounted on the right front shock tower. The fuel injected model is inside the alternator, under the end cover.
Have the alt. tested before u purchase a new one to make sure that's the problem. Most parts stores will check it for free. Be sure to disconnect the neg. battery cable before u start to remove it. Let me know how u make out. Curt

Battery? Alternator? or what?

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, it could be the alternator or more specifically the voltage regulator inside the alternator. The function of the alternator is to produce the necessary charging voltage to replenish the charge of the battery. This voltage is then funneled and controlled by the regulator. Of course even if the alternator/regulator is good, there could be other possible reason(s) why the battery looses or is not charging such as loose wire/connector/terminals or a partial electrical short/fault draining the battery when parked.

To crank (turnover) the car's engine, a starter is used.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.
