That was old school , vehicles with the turbo 400 transmission are equipped with an ECM controlled downshift system , when vehicle is at speeds below 70 mph a forced (detent) downshift is possible by fully depressing the accelerator ,when the ECM detects a drop in manifold vacuum (high map sensor reading) the downshift control relay is energized by the ECM , the relay detects battery voltage to the detent solenoid in the transmission to open open an oriface to force the transmission to downshift ..... if yours is not working i would first check the downshift relay , under hood , picture is so bad i can't tell , looks like on the firewall more to the passenger side , next to fuel pump relay , if it needs more diag than that maybe you should get an estimate for repair from a trans shop or such , hope ya fix it , cheers .

man whataya gotta do to get a fix ya vote , come over and fix it ? ok i found the schematic , the kickdown relay is supposed to be on the firewall next to the fuel pump relay , i didn't write this manual , don't kill the messanger , the color are supposed to be , purple , tan/black , orange and a red wire , the red wire is also a fusible link , the color code is another clue to find it , and if the relay isn't the problem , check that red fuseable link , and if that doesn't solve your problem , your on your own , i have a headache , lol . cheers .

My 1995 2500 chevy trans shifts good from forward to reverse but don't shift to any higher forward gears sat for a couple months before that no issues this truck has the 6.5 turbo

Thats not good !
I suggest that the truck be started and warmed up a while.
Then try to drive it around a bit in the yard or where ever.
If that doesnt work out the suspected clog, then I would roll under the truck and look to see if something hasn't eatten away at the wire harness for the trans.

I have a 1995 Chevy 2500 6.5 turbo diesel and the blow. So I was wondering if theirs any gas engines that will bolt in its place? thanks D Hawkins

Any smallblock chevy to a bigblock chevy will bolt up. examples I would go with : 350 or a 454 . The 6.5 uses the same transmission bolt pattern as these engines. If it's an automatic the flywhell might still work on the 350 or 454.

I have a 92 chevy k/2500 4x4 350 eng.w/tbi and the transmission is a turbo 400.i have no passing gear.what can i do to get kickdown.also i get 2 stories on what tranny came in the truck orig.i have a 4 pin...

there should be a kick down cable coming from the tranny to the tbi, this is probale out of adjustment, or the tranny is having issues, this can be fixed by losing the cable. now take the throttle and open it wide open the cable should click. i would think that this truck should have the 700r4 tranny

If it has TH400 Transmission, its mounted L/H rear just above pan.
