Question about 2007 Kia Sorento 4x4

Kia Sorento won't drop into passing gear when I floor it

Dealer tells me that they need to replace sensor in transmission ($400 labor just to drop transmission). I have my doubts and feel that it is an electronic problem because if I disconnect battery leads and reconnect, the problem goes away for a while. But, it always seems to come back. Might it be the MAP sensor?????????? and if so, where is it located, just to check to see if it might be nothing more than a loose wire. Thanks! caribeng@yahoo.com

Could be Throttle Position Sensor or TPS problem.

MAP sensor is unrelated to this.
It sounds like the dealer is right in thinking that its a sensor in the trans. could be a speed sensor.

How to replace 2005 kia sorento po753 shift solenoid

This is not something you want to do. That solenoid causing that error is INSIDE the transmission. This means that you either have to drop the transmission or you have to have enough clearance to get the pan off and replace the part.

2003 kia sorento check engine light no symptoms

Scannign the PCM in order to know exactly what is the fault code that cause turn on "check engine light"; just with this fault code could send other details; ask your dealer about this.

Hope helps.

I have a 2006 Kia sorento had an oil change a couple days ago but now the car is revving highly and has problems shifting in 3rd gear and pass what could be wrong

Its reving high, like pressing on the fuel, and the RPM just shoots high, you are describing a sliupping transmission. Kia has problems with shift hesistation dealing with the TPS, get that troubleshooted first if its not the TPS you are dealing with a VSS(vehicle speed sensor ) if both component are not at fault the solution is another transmission or rebuilt

2007 kia sorento with only 16000 miles jammed in 5 gear

is it stuck in gear? and only 16000... Was it grinding into all gears earlier? You probably just need a new throw out bearing or spacer for your clutch. Its definitely a job for the shop. Look for a transmission shop for a better labor rate cost.

well if it has a 'service bullitin' then the manafacturar would know--hook it up to a tech ll which runs a data stream for solution cause it can get complicated--trans may need to be reprogramed or a module is bad etc

TPS of Throttle Position Sensor needed adjusting and is the problem and not the gearbox.

This usually happens when the engine light comes on and the TPS is adjusted but most dealers forget (or maybe intentionally) to reset the gearbox P/TRN Fuse.

Whenever the engine light comes on the gearbox is set to run in Sick Slow mode which is why you have this problem.

Before doing anything, try pulling the P/TRN fuse for 5 mins and put it back. Then try the car.

Hope it works, i did for me.
