Question about 2006 Kia Sorento
TPS of Throttle Position Sensor needed adjusting and is the problem and not the gearbox.
This usually happens when the engine light comes on and the TPS is adjusted but most dealers forget (or maybe intentionally) to reset the gearbox P/TRN Fuse.
Whenever the engine light comes on the gearbox is set to run in Sick Slow mode which is why you have this problem.
Before doing anything, try pulling the P/TRN fuse for 5 mins and put it back. Then try the car.
Hope it works, i did for me.

When cold it takes two trys to start it. after it starts it will stall on first accelleration. This all starten when the throttle position sensor was replaced. New battery drains in seven hours while parked.
