Question about 2006 Kia Sorento

2 Answers

My Kia Sorento won't gear down and accelerate when I floor it. Dealer says it's a sensor in the transmission and they need to drop the transmission ($400 labor) to replace the sensor. I have a feeling that it is an electronic problem as the problem seems to come and go. Disconnecting and reconnecting battery leads seem to resolve problem for a while but it always comes back.

TPS of Throttle Position Sensor needed adjusting and is the problem and not the gearbox.

This usually happens when the engine light comes on and the TPS is adjusted but most dealers forget (or maybe intentionally) to reset the gearbox P/TRN Fuse.

Whenever the engine light comes on the gearbox is set to run in Sick Slow mode which is why you have this problem.

Before doing anything, try pulling the P/TRN fuse for 5 mins and put it back. Then try the car.

Hope it works, i did for me.

When cold it takes two trys to start it. after it starts it will stall on first accelleration. This all starten when the throttle position sensor was replaced. New battery drains in seven hours while parked.

I have a 2013 Kia Sorento and when I accelerate it bogs down. It seems like it is struggling to pick up speed. Any solutions.

run the fault codes as there are sensor problems
it should be still under warranty so take it to a service dealer for the fix.

No acceleration if revs drop below 1800 need to drop down a gear

Lack of power could be caused by bad timing belt, bad throttle position sensor, or even clogged fuel filter.

2003 kia sorento check engine light no symptoms

Scannign the PCM in order to know exactly what is the fault code that cause turn on "check engine light"; just with this fault code could send other details; ask your dealer about this.

Hope helps.

well if it has a 'service bullitin' then the manafacturar would know--hook it up to a tech ll which runs a data stream for solution cause it can get complicated--trans may need to be reprogramed or a module is bad etc

Could be Throttle Position Sensor or TPS problem.

hi emissionwiz is more than likley to be correct the sensor not going to be chaging so much if it won,t rev over 2000 [no revs no increase in air flow ] if emissionwiz soloution doesn,t work try looking at ignition sensors as it may be affecting the timming best of luck yates210456
