You should cehck to see if the throtlle body is clean which can prevent a smooth flow of air to mix with the fuel. Another reason can be the distributor. Probably proper flow of current is being intercepted. Yoyu can also let an auto-electrician check this out for you. If there is a prob with the distributor, the spark plugs are probably not being fired efficiently

This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve but always run a OBD2 fault code as well as the cleaning procedure. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control. If the above cleaning doesn't cure your issues you need to have the computer controlled automatic idle speed control system diagnosed and repaired by a dealer or electronic engine control repair shop.

I don't think there is a fuel blockage because the problem is so intermitten. Cannot dublicate in the shop
The problem has been with the jeep for two months. It shuts off uncommanded about once a week. Sometimes while moving at hiway speed. Sometimes at idle, otherwise it runs fine, there does not seem to be a pattern. Trying to find an answer before it shuts off at an inopportune moment.
This has occurred only once on my 2007 Grand Cherokee while driving on freeway at night. Lost engine, lights, everything. Coasted to side of road and restarted. No problems since. Prior to this over the past year, I've had it back to the dealer for all warning lights coming on, losing speedometer and tach. They replaced the ignition switch, but the same problem recurs. Almost all codes show up on the computer and they are stumped. Their advice is to bring it in while it is acting up!
Do u know if teher is a fuel blockage somehwere in the fuel system?
This was happening with my 07 Jeep Grand cherokee limited hemi, the wiring harness running over the coils picks up voltage from the coils and travels back to the computer and triggers auto shutdown relay. I fixed mine over a year ago with no stalls since, I have put over 20000 miles on it with no problems, email me and I will show you how I fixed it, adrian4064002@gmail.com.
