Yes you do need a code. It could be in your onwers manual or your manual can tell you where to ask for it.

If the battery was disconnected or replace , the radio will require a security code to be entered , turn the radio on , it should display CODE , using the preset buttons enter the code from security card , a beep will sound when the correct code is entered , you have 3 attempts to get it right , if not a fail safe will make you wait one hour before you can retry , if you do not have the security card or know the code , its time to talk to your dealership , if you are the registered owner , they can fix you , if they will is another story , be nice to them . cheers

My mechanic cleaned out the throttle on my 2002 nissan altima and since then my car is constantly idling. The car stays on and it doesn't die out but the idling is just constantly reving. What should I do

Take it back to him and tell him to check and see if any of the hose fittings to the intake plenum were left of by accident because a friend has told you it sounds like you have a vacuum leak ever since the work was done.

This is what happened for sure, but sometimes it helps to dance around the mechanics ego a little. The shop should be happy to check this for you if you don't rub their nose in it too badly.

2002 Altima engine/Catalytic converter problems

check engine light has nothing to do with oil level. Only the red engine light does. It sounds like you are burning a lot of oil and it is poisoning your catalytic converter. Your converter is killing itself trying to treat all the unburned oil that is coming to it. It will get so hot that it swells inside and clogs it up. Why you are burning oil is the question. Only 3 possibilities. Past the piston rings, past the valve stem seals or a plugged pvc valve and its hoses. Clean the PVC hose and change the PCV first. Changing the cats now will just kill them again until you fix the oil burning.
Autozone will do free scan test for fault codes by the way.
PCV won't show up there though.
You can buy cheap engine on ebay or at car-part.com. page with asterisk is lowest price.

Car has NO pwer at all

Check that battery contacts are well connected.

If there is no power at all, then it is either a broken wire or connector, or the ignition cylinder is faulty.

The only way to find out is using a car voltmeter tool on battery wires and ignition wiring.
