Engine stalled after driving through huge puddle

I drove my grammas 2000 plymouth voyager through this huge puddle in our neighborhood. Then engine stalled and now it doesn't start. Any thoughts?

It sounds as tho you might have taken some water in the air intake, take the spark plugs out and turn it over for about 20 seconds then put them back in and try it again, also some easy start through the intake whilst trying to start it after step one may assist it

It could be. I would park it over a piece of cardboard the next time I drove it, and try to determine where the oil is coming from. This may save you some money on parts you don't need.

Transmission quit shifting after going through a shallow puddle


Probably got water into connections for electronics. They have to be dried out. Don't know what facilities you have available to you as far as compressed air, or heat concentrated on area. I would make a point of removing them, or having it done & cleaning them well, and adding di-electric grease to those connections to hopefully avoid same again.

I had the same problem with my van, it turned out to be the EGR valve (emissions-gasoline-regulator) valve. It cost about $65, but well worth it!!! About a 20 min. job
