Have you tried spraying some white lithium grease with little red nozzle attached obviously, in the key slot as far as you can get it in?

which engine, options there are many.???
cant fix any engine, until you know what it there.
a civic not Tacoma. as posted.
see end for engines ????

surge 101 (running gasoline?)
it caused by 2 things. (and lots of reasons)
1: engine running lean. all engines lean surge. fix that first.

The CX, DX, and LX all have D16y7 non-VTEC engines; whereas the EX has a D16y8 VTEC, and the HX has D16y5 VTEC-E. The USDM Si and Canadian SiR came with a DOHC (B16A2 VTEC). My service engine light comes on after I have been driving for 20 or 30 minutes goes through cycle again after stopping and turn key off 93 Honda civic hatchback DX

If the car shuts down after the service engine lights on, possible problem is the igniter on your ignition coil. You have to replace the igniter. I had the same problem before with my esi 93 and honda car shop fixed it by replacing the said part. It is better to have the code scanned first. If it gives you 1 long flash followed by 5 short flashes, definitely it is the igniter.
