Question about 2001 GMC Jimmy

Antifreeze and steam pouring inside of truck

It's a 93 GMC Jimmy. While driving, there was a pop sound and then the cab filled up with antifreeze steam. The floorboard is covered in antifreeze that came out of the floor heater vents.
I am assuming it is the radiator heater hose. Where is that located on the radiator and is it possible to cut and plug the hose and still drive the truck. I understand there would be no more heat, but it's just a work truck so that doesn't bother me.

Thank you
Tony

Your heater core has probably sprung a leak. the replacement of a heater core can be very expensive as the entire dash usually needs to be removed to access the heater core.to bypass it you need to locate the heater hoses they will pass through the firewall on the passenger side in the engine compartment they will be aprox 2" diameter they run from the engine to the firewall (on some models one will run to the radiator).......just remove these from the firewall and loop them
hope this helps.............thanks for choosing FIX YA!

Find the 2 hoses that go into firewall, for heater core, remove them & join together with a piece of copper pipe or similar & top up your coolant, you should be o.k.

You will need to replace the heater core. It obviously has a small crack or hole in it and that is where the steam on your windsheild and the smell of antifreeze is coming from.

When i start the jimmy i smell antifreeze, is it the heatercore or the waterpump

may be either, Is your passenger floor wet? does the heat work? is there a film on the windows?(these are tell tale signs of a bad heater core) is there steam rising from under the hood? does the temperature rise and fall? is the antifreeze a brown color(sign of broken impeller) or is there a loud bearing noise? (these are signs of a bad waterpump)...are there any other symptoms?

well sounds like u just blew a head gasket check ur coolant level or better yet put some antifreeze in it and let it run and see if u have an excessive amount of water coming out of the exhaust and keep check on the coolant level and see if u loose antifreeze as i suspect u will
and if u r loosing coolant then its probably not smoke u r seeing but steam instead

take it to a mechanic and let them check it

Chanses are that little hole will turn into a big hole its only a matter of time, its not that hard, don't be inteminated by it, even if you have never done one before. Chk. the carpet on the pasengers side floor see if its wet, anyhow if you can smell antifreeze thats what it is heater core.

the small radiator just inside the cab, where the hoses go to the heater is leaking. You may try using stop leak (many don't recommend this) or take off the heater radiator. it will probably get worse when you turn on the heater and fog up the windshield if not fixed. hope this helps.
