I have a 2002 2.2 liter OHV Chevy Cavalier. It has been in the shop for 5 weeks now trying to solve a random misfire problem. They have replaced the following new plugs and wire, 2 new ICM and coil packs, new fuel filter, new fuel rail and 4 injectors, and regulator. new TPS and AIC, Good fuel pressure, probably others that I can not think of, but have notice went temp out side is warm, the car still misses, but not as bad. This morning temp is 28 degrees and car is miss all over the place. Car has no codes no engine light, scan only show a few random miss fires. I am think ECM, but running out of money.
You may want to check for fuel volume and fuel quality. There may be moisture in the fuel. It would also help to know which cylinders it is misfiring on. Scan tool will show the misfire on live data.
Mech has checked volume and is good, he has put 3 cans of add to tank. Also misfires are random on all cylinders on scan tool.
Car has no EGR valve, all sensor check ok Crank and Cam sensor, O2 look good on scan tool. Scan so car going lean
short and long term fuel trims should be about plus or minus 10%. What are yours?

Sounds like it needs spark plugs and wires, and a fuel system treatment.

Does this motor have the equivalent of crank-trigger ignition? If so, is the sensor A-OK?
