Question about 2006 Hyundai Sonata

1 Answer

Sun visor on driver's side won't stay up or all the way down. 2006 Sonata I have an 06 sonata too and have the same problem with visor on drivers side. It is very dangerous for when you are driving and it falls down. We have tried velcro strips but it doesn't work.

Exact Same Problem, has anyway tried to remove the assemby?? Velcro is not an answer as it will eventually tear away at the roof fabric and it will sag.

I have the same problem, only now it is both of them. I had my driver's side fixed at around 40,000 and now I am just over the 60,000 mark and both of them broke... It is not an overuse issue, they just suddenly snapped and started sagging. I tried velcro with no luck. My fix right now is to turn them around and put them in the hooks backwards, but the fall down in my vision often, causing a hazard. Where can I buy new ones to replace mine?

I have the same problem with my sun visor on the driver's side. It won't stay up and when I put it down it starts creeping back just enough that it is in my line of vision. In visiting other sites today, someone mentioned a similar problem caused by stripped swivel joints. He had them replaced by the dealer and they were covered under the warranty. I'll be calling the dealership Monday or perhaps Tuesday would be better due to Memorial Day.

Time to replace the visor assy's. If they have been used frequently this problem is common.

I have sun visor prob also. 2007 hyundai sonata se. Sun visor wont stay up on driver or passenger side. I currently have velcro on them which does not stick in the heat of the summer time. and the dealer...

As they work on friction you may be able to
compress the material on the outside which will then give the inside more grip.
Put a cloth around the top of the visor to protect the material and use Mole grips with the half circle jaws or pliers of the same construction grips to squeeze the area around where the rod enters the visor

Other option is a wreckers yard?

Sun Visors won't stay up.

Bring it back to the dealer. That happened to mine and they replaced it. Also had problems with the drivers seat. It would not go back & forth. Dealer fixed.

If under 60,000 miles, take it to the dealer for replacement - free of charge. Both sun visors on my 2006 Hyundai Sonata did the same thing and had them both replaced, but now out of warranty and driver's side has done it again so I'll have to pay to have it fixed. Looking for a used one online now. I guess this is just a defect in that particular model.

Sun visor on driver's side won't stay up or all the way down. 2006 Sonata I have the same problem with my 2007 Sonata driver side sun visor broke and will not stay up but keeps droping down in my view....

I have a 2007 Sonata and the driver's side sun visor broke. I called the dealership where I purchased the car, and was told that they only cover it for 5 years/60,000 miles. So if your's is broken, get it in there before the warranty expires. Otherwise the cost is around $80 for the visor unit.

Sun visor on driver's side won't stay up or all the way down. 2006 Sonata

This works on any visor. Obtain a small clamp as used in wiring harnesses. On the shaft end of the visor, 1/2 inch from the end, install the clamp around the visor and the shaft. Drill a hole through the visor for the clamp screw and tighten as needed. I might be a redneck, but it works!!
