Question about 1999 Dodge Neon

2 Answers

I have a 1995 Dodge Neon with a 1999 motor in it. Recently it has had some issues starting. All I would have to do is just switch the relays (usually horn to fuel pump and vice versa) and it would start. This morning, I went out to start it and it would not start, even after trying 3 different relays... It cranks just fine, it just won't fire... Anybody have any ideas?

If switching relays got the car started for you before, maybe you had a relay that was sticking. Check the fuel pump relay & the ASD (Automatic Shutdown) relay. Either relay will keep the fuel pump from working. Listen for the fuel pump when you turn the key on. It should run for a few seconds & then stop.

Check fuel at the rail in front of the injectors. Remove the cap and a shrader valve(tire stem valve) is under it. just do like you let the air out of a tire. This rail is under pressure so you are just letting a little squirt to see if it is under pressure. No fuel comes out look to the pump or relay. If it does check the cam position sensor and sender. The one part is bolted to the cam under the sensor. Remove it and make sure it did not spin and strip the locating pins. These pins are plastic and part of the sender.

1995 Dodge neon. no power to coil pack. no dash lights.

check the ASD fuse in the fuse box under the hood. just switch it with another relay just to see if car starts. if it does its the relay. On the ASD, if this is a typical relay of the '95 era you can jump directly from 30 to the other side of the socket to by-pass it for testing purposes. good-day !

Fuel pump relay

The fuel pump relay is located in the power distribution center, at the lefthand side of the engine compartment and behind the battery.

Car a/c heat blower stopped no warning

Check for a blown heater motor supply fuse,
Check operation of heater motor control relay,
Check operation of fan speed control switch,
Check heater motor speed control resistor pack (usually located in the heater ducting - in the air flow),
Check the heater motor runs if power directly applied to the motor- if not motor may be faulty.

Dodge Neon 2005) Car will not start.

I was having the same exact problem with my 2005 neon as well. The guy at Discount auto suggested the starter itself was the problem(cost approx $200). The car isn't old enough to be having a starter issue so I figured it was something more simplilar. My dad took a look and founf out it was the starter relay. It is located in the black fuse/relay box on the driver's side right next to the battery. I had to get a new relay at the dealership(cost $20) and my car starts perfectly. Hope this helps
