What color is the smoke? If it is black then it is fuel. Maybe an O2 sensor.

No actually at first I thought it was steam. It looks more white with a milder smelll than the black smoke.

SOURCE: oil consumption, no smoke, no leaks

Yes a crappy PVC valve can cause some of your problems but not necessarily all of them, they are cheap, I always replace it to start. The air cleaner housing being full of oil is like how the oil is being consumed. In addition to a PVC valve, there may also be a blow-by hose running into the housing. check to see what other hoses go into the housing & which ones have oil coming from them. I'm not familiar with the "Motor Honey" you mentioned but I rarely add additives to my Engine oil, especially if they are thickeners. The only stuff I recommend is a Quaker state or similar "High Mileage Oil". These semi-synthetic oils have additives to swell old rubber & cork seals in older engines and can help reduce oil consumption & leakage. Again, it may not be a total solution, but it couldn't hurt to drain out all of the existing oil & replace with a high mileage type & also change the filter at the same time. Never mix it with other oils, despite the manufacturer telling you it may be safe to do so.

you have bad valve seals again and it is possible that the valve guides are bad ( to much play ) i worked for Jaguar 13 years and i have done 100's of these and very few needed guides it sound like the seals where not done correctly at the last repair.

More than likely u have a leaking valve cover gasket unless your seeing smoke than it might have a burnt valve guide or guides if its smoking real bad than it could have bad rings and you don't want that cause then u half to tear the motor down basically rebuilding the motor

2004 , no miles on engine, stated, (odometer) 50k, 500k, what?
all engines burn oil by design. ALL !
only question is, how much, ?
miles /per quart
or KM per LITER.

if you ask any sharp mech, to fix oil consumption, HE WILL
Ching-ching..... after all you asked him, !!!!!
don't , no really dont.

post the consumption rates and ask.?
ive got like 1.5million miles in cars, and motorcycles.
and 300k or more in ships. (our ship burns oil only) LOL

the number 1 reason of excessive oil is driving too fast.
if you drive most cars 80mphy all the time, it will burn more oil
most cars new run about 1 quart of oil per 3000 miles.

I had one engine, a mazda, i drove it to the ground, as an experiment.
a 626, it was using a quart every 1000 miles
it took oil EVERY fill up. oils cheap so I fed it. why not?
the PO overheated the engine once and that is why.;
I rebuild engines so , know the reasons.... (retired now)

yes, that is valve seals bad, $10 in parts.
ask someone to follow you, and look for smoke, (easy, huh?)

if it smokes all the time?, and PCV valve is new (not clogged)
it needs rings. or like me, just drive it like you stole it, why not?

Blue smoke 96 honda prelude

Blue some is burning oil. Check your PCV valve 1st, but if this is bad, your idle would be high. If it smokes when 1st starting only, the valve guides and/or seals are bad. If it smokes while driving, the rings are worn out.

When starting toyota fortuner 3.0 liter blowing blue smoke what is causing this

It is oil smoke. The most common causes are worn valve guide seals, a faulty PCV valve, or, worn or broken oil control rings on the pistons. Only 1 or 2 cylinders need be at fault.

Check the PCV valve for fouling. Have a compression test done. If readings are low or irregular, pour a few ccs of engine oil into the suspect cylinders thru the plug holes. If compression readings then improve, it is probably the rings at fault.

Less common causes are worn big end bearings spraying excessive oil up the cylinder walls, or a leak from the head gasket, oil to cylinder.

Its sputtering and blowing smoke out of the tailpipe. whats the problem?

Hello! #1 question; Is the Check Engine Light (CEL) on? This means the computer has stored a fault and in order to troubleshoot the cause I'll need the code...Take the vehicle to an auto parts store and, for free, they will read the code...Send it to me...

If the CEL is not on; Pull the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve...Give it a shake...If you do not hear the little ball that lives inside rattling around; you have found the fault...Replace PCV valve...
See photo below...The PCV valve is located in the rear valve cover, just behind the throttle body

Poor acceleration and loss of power

If the engine mechanically is good ---no knocking or piton-slapping noises--chances are your engine breather system is plugged up.----possibly plugged up in the valve cover---the tube or hole where the PCV valve is located in the valve cover. check the PCV valve too --when you sake it you should hear it rattle.
To check the valve cover without taking it off --remove the PCV valve and with a piece of hose inserted in it's place inthe valve cover try blowing thru it---( with engine off ) if you can not then remove the valve cover and manually unplug the blockage.

Valve stem seals can cause this problem, but normally only when first started. Oil in the rocker cover seaps through the oil seals into the cylinders and is burnt up on start up.
Try a "STOP A LEAK" additive and it may reduce the oil consumption and smoke.
I found some on e-bay and it worked on my tired old escort. It even stopped the rattling tappets.

Smoking after start up

If it's the org. engine it will has over 160,000 miles on it.
It's normal to has valve stem seal/oil seal on the head to leak oil into the cyclinder on high mileage engine.

The smoke you see is the motor oil drop from the valve stem seals. The oil drops land on the top of the cyclinders and it create black smoke at start up.

The inexpensive fix is to start using high mileage oil with seal conditioner.
This will help soften the rubber seals and help reduce internal oil leak.

The correct fix is to wait until it's time for a head gasket replacement and let the professional CRC/service the head.

Complete head service is the only method to stop this internal oil drip problem.
