Question about 2000 Chevrolet Tracker

96 tacoma 2wd humming noise at 40+

I have a 96 2wd tacoma with auto tran. makes a humming noise at 40-45 then stops then starts back up near 55-60 when i let up on gas petal it goes away any clues??

Might be your tires, have them rotated and maybe balenced

I have a 2002 toyota tacoma 2wd with the TRD package and an automatic trans. about 2 weeks ago or so when putting my truck into reverse or drive it kinda bumps hard. and for a little bit it will shift hard...


Those metal flakes are normal wear and tear within the trans. You may try having it flushed (this may/may not work), The transmission may need a rebuild if you have serviced it already and is experiencing the same issues...hopefully this helps

sounds like the transmission solenoids in the trans. Does your speedo work ok?

Tacoma won't start, or shift out of park.


Try putting foot on brake, or is key in ignition, also over-ride button by shifter. Auto's have safety micro switches in these places so not to have car in drive and start, "extremely dangerous" Try this first easily missed. lol

Either the starter has failed or you have a bad ground. I would say starter.
