The most common cause is the front seal of the input shaft is leaking, this is commonly called the front pump seal, next would be the transmission pan gasket is leaking. The only real way to determine exactly what is leaking is to thoroughly clean all the fluid off with a pressure washer, then drive it and check for the source of the fluid.
coming from the tail pipe?if so replace the transmission modulator valve, it's located on teh side of your transmission, BUT before you do that, make sure the vacum line to the modulator valve is'nt clogged!!sorry, that just occured to me. is the transmission leaking red fluid in front or the rear of it at all? that could be a bad seal if from front or rear.transmission i know front wheel drives, if leaking one side to other side, bad axle seal, depending on which side, if leaking in middle, between motor and transmission, bad front seal.,my firm advice, check all vacum lines leading to transmission.hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com
TRANSMISSION LEAKS COME FROM TRANSMISSION OIL PAN GASKET LEAKING.OIL COOLERS LINES LEAKING.LEAKING AT TORQUE CONVERTER FRONT SEAL.TRANSMISSION SPEED SENSOR SEAL LEAKING.FRONT AXLE SEALS LEAKING AND LEAKING AT TRANSMISSION COOLING LINES TO RADIATOR.CHECK ALL YOU WILL FIND LEAK.IF YOU HAVE FAST LEAK OR PRESSURE LEAK.WITH CAR RUNNING IN PARK EMERGENCY BRAKE APPLIED LOOK UNDER CAR IF YOU SEE FLUID LEAKING OUT IN LARGE QUANITIES.COOLER LINES LEAKING OR TORQUE CONVERTER FRONT SEAL LEAKING.IF YOU HAVE SLOW LEAK THE LEAKS HAS TO BE AXLES SEALS OR PAN GASKET LEAKING OR VSS SENSOR SEAL LEAKING.
I would take it to a garage and have the leak checked out and repaired these cars have a special way to fill the trans by removing a plug on the side of the trans while the car is running in park at normal operating temp.
If it is on the passengers side front then it could be coolant.have the cooling system pressure tested.Could be a water pump, intake gasket,or radiator hose.Depending on what motor you have.Hope this helps.Good luck.
