2004 Highlander, radiator fans only turn on/off togrther

Within the last couple of days we have noticed a "warm" odor from the passenger side of the hood. It does not smell like oil, wiring, or antifreeze...just warm. It seems like the fans are not keeping up with the temperature but I can't be sure because I never paid attention before. The speed sounds OK, I'm only referring to when they switch between off/low/high.

SOURCE: Sluggish steering - 2005 Toyota Sienna

You probably do have a power steering leak. Check the fluid again, it's most likely low if you are having an increasing problem with it. As the fluid is drained slowly through the leak it allows air bubbles to enter the system and cause it to become sluggish or sticky. Get the leak fixed asap so you don't spend a huge amount on fluid and keep an eye on the fluid level.

SOURCE: i have a 1998 toyota camry le with 131,000 miles.

sounds like lifters, rods normally make a knocking sound try putting a couple of bottles of engine flush in and run the car around the block a couple of time then drain the oil and change the filter and replace the oil with a quality 15w 40 grade oil and see if the noise clears up. if it is still there you can try product called moreys oil addative this often helps quiet down liftes if still no good oyu may need to replace your lifters

SOURCE: I have a 1993 Toyota 4Runner that has been giving

a 1993 Toyota 4Runner Water Pump is driven by the timing belt. Timing belt must be correctly positioned and then the timing confirmed once the job is complete. Based on your question, I would say the timing belt or timing is not correct.

SOURCE: 93 Corolla no start, radiator fan is on with key.

Hi

Unless you know how to use a digital multi-meter, then hard to describe testing.
Howevr I would start with the ignition switch and test all power sources there.
Next move onto checking ALL fuses, there are two main locations, under bonnet and drivers side kick panel / dash area. Special attention to the really large ones.
Sounds like either wiring has shorted or a relay (Ignition) has failed.
You do not mention whether ignition lamps work, I suspect not.

2009 Toyota Sienna I've changed the water pump, thermostat, main hoses, radiator, coolant tank and fan.

Question edited for English clarity.

Gently hose the engine bay down when the engine is warm to remove traces of sprayed coolant. Leave a couple of hours to dry. Run the engine and observe the engine bay and passenger headlight area until the coolant fans turn on and the engine is up to operating temperature. Look for where the leak is coming from?

800 miles from home, the a/t temp warning light on our 2004 Highlander came on. The book says pull over and put veh in park, idle and if light goes off the proceed,if not the call for help. This happened...

There has to be reason for it happening.
Low water in radiator.
fans not working behind radiator
air restriction at radiator.
thermostat not opening all the way.
transmission not going into overdrive.
extra load such as trailer, boat , camper.
Brakes not releasing all the way.
What changed the last 200 miles.

When I turn on my 2004 toyota highlander air conditioner the fan on the motor sounds like it is running, where it has never done this before. what could be the cause?

When you turn on the AC pop the hood. If it has an electric cooling fan or an electric fan infront of the radiator and condensor then its normal for it to come on. Without air flowing through the core the AC will not blow cold air. You just may not have noticed it before, or the fan is wearing down and producing a bit more noise than before.

2004 PT Cruiser radiator fan comes on in high speed mode when AND

You can either jump power from the high to low sides, or wire a switchable power wire so it comes on when the ignition turns on. It isn't really computer controlled. A sensor just sends power to it when it needs to run. No fear of hurting anything.
