lever or rod in inside and latch all fail on the inside.???

if lock is 100% dead all ways, door closed , that can be hard.
as removing door panels with the door closed would be a super pain
a PITA.
if the lock is iced up, use moms hair dryer, (SO, GF, or wife)

if never seen or heard of this ever.
the only way (no ice) for this to happen
is for the link on the back side of the key tumbler to break
and at the same time, the inside lock rod snaps too.

You can open up the inside panel of the door and adjust the tension in the cable that opens the door from the outside handle.

My door is also STUCK SHUT, I cant open it from the inside or outside. I understand I need to remove the door panel to fix the issue, but I need the door open to remove the panel. I know I'm not the only person who's went through this. How did you get the door to open? Please let me know how you got your STUCK SHUT door to open so I can remove the panel and fix it. ya its probly the cables or linkage inside the door. u need 2 get the door open 2 fix. so from the outside try 2 take the handle off. then push down on the mechanism that opens the door. then fix it

i have the same problem on my 1995 grand prix gtp 2 door coupe...the only differnce is that i had door poppers installed and took off the lock rod, turnes out the solenionds cant pull the latch open, so i need stronger solenoids. but my door wont open either...if anyone has any fixes to this problem let me knows ASAP!! i cant crawl thru the passenger side in the middle of a S. Dak. winter...

Are you moving the child safety lock or the door lock? Only the door lock itself should prevent the door from being opened from both inside or out. The child lock is typically a switch on the door near the door pin halfway down the door.

You have to remove the inner door panel to get to the nuts that hold the handle in place,this is also the cause of the lock and inside switch problem.You can purchase a tool to remove the panel,if your have a bit of mechanical experience this should be fairly easy.

linkage on inside of door has come undone. take off inside door panel and you will find a small rod that goes to the lock mechanism where the door closes opposite the hinges. follow the handle to the door lock.the nylon bushing may have broken.they are cheap to purchase at auto part stores.

Just go to a junk yard and pull them off a junker and put them on yours. Simple fix with a screwdriver. Most Toyota stuff has already been shipped out to Japan so you may have to go to a dealership for them. I can understand what your saying friend about cash limitations, if someone told me to pay attention I'd have to take out a loan. You'll work it out somehow. You may have to just hook a wire to the handle mounts to pull them unlatched. As for the one not unlocking, pull the inside panel off and unhook the lock and unlock it. Luck toya Bro.
