Question about Honda Accord

1 Answer

('93 Honda Accord) My battery had died so I put in a new one, but when I connect the negative terminal, the alarm sounds and I can't start my car. I never use the alarm system and so I'm not sure what sets it off or what I can do to disarm it. I have a remote device but neither button shuts off the alarm.

Why my Honda horn keep beeping when connecting negative battery terminal

DOUBLE CHECK that you have connected the battery the right way and haven't put the positive on the negative. This is sometimes a warning that you have the terminals the wrong way round. If the battery is fitted correctly check the fuses.

How big is the battery terminal for a honda accord 4 door 1988???

There are two standards used for battery terminals....The standard and commonly use is Positive 18mm Negative 16mm. Japanese standard which is smaller, positive 13mm and negative 11mm....Most are tapered to allow for good connection....Replacement battery terminals are available. I'm just guessing that you've bought a replacement battery and discovered that the one you're replacing has the Japanese type and the one you've bought has the larger type?

Put the key in the drivers door (with it closed) and manually lock and unlock the car. That should turn off the alarm.

Dead Battery

Make sure your cables positive and negative are in good shape. If they are, remove the negative cable and use a test light to jump across the neg. terminal to the cable. If there is a power draw, the test light will illuminate. At this point, remove the fuses one at a time until the test light turns off. What ever that particular fuse goes to is the circuit with the power draw. Hope this helps.
