Re: geting a check engen light when i shift
You havent changed gas stations since you picked up the problem. Make sure there are not two 02 sensors one for each bank. Well u mentioned that you had one head done, is suspect it is a straight 6, so only one 02 sensor. Put some 93 in it and drive it clean, you may have some debris somewhere, even get some additive to clean fuel injectors, is burning dirty at higher rpm

Mar 5, 2011 - Before guessing at transmission problems, check the fluid level (car warmed up, ... that do not show up as PCM codes (like shift A&B solenoid failures, for example). ... 1-2 shift is delayed and harsh, may not shift into OD: Check TPS for ...goes into 3rd gear: Reaction planetary is worn out due to high miles or ...
could be input output sensors but the fact that its sliping means theres a problem it gos in to second gear ans stays there to protect its sekf from ferther dmage AKA limp mode check engin light is probably on have it scaned
tune the engine...bad jgnition parts can cause the trans to shift improprerly...my 4 cyl. camry was not going into 1st gear or studdering on first.. corrected with tune-up and cleaned egr valve.. found a lot of carbon in intake manifold.. also replaced canister purge from tank to intake...still need to correct carbon ...but car shifts perfectly.!!!
It should still be under warrenty Take it to the shop for repairs It is a transmisson problem but many things can cause the transmisson not to shift correctly. Call your service department and ask if you should drive it in or have it towed and do not drive till you have it figured out. If you have a warrenty and continue to drive it will void your warrenty.
You sure its the transmission? Wheezing sound is usually the catylitic converter becoming plugged. Also...at 3-5K rpm you are not idling, you are reving the engine...(in that case, trans may be slipping or flairing between shifts, unless the unit is staying in one gear and just delaying shift till you reach that rpm. actual shift point should be close to 2,000rpm) I'd check the cat first.
the neutral safty switch tells the comp. what gear is in. when its not working the light wont move and the car will not go threw the gears prop. the switch is nown to go out. it is located on the tranny or down under the shifter
