01 focus zx2. rear tire is loose ,lug nuts tight

The rear tire is mobile. and it is makeing a noise when you drive it.

Strut is bad - replace both sides is recommended.

check lug nuts make sure their all tight, check tire make sure it's not out of round, simple things first.

Is the emergency brake on? If so release it the brake shoes should release the drum. Second option is to spray some WD40 on the threads next to the drum and replace the wheel putting the lug nuts on finger tight. Lower the vehicle and slowly drive forward for a couple of feet and slam on the brakes, then do the same in reverse. Raise the vehicle and remove the wheel and see if the drum is loose or give the drum a couple of whacks with a rubber hammer.

How do you take the rear wheels off of the 2004 dodge ram 1500


hi, if just taking the rear wheels off the vehicle, you will need a hydraulic jack, or vehicle lift of some kind, jack stands to place under the vehicle if you are using the hydraulic jack. You will also need either a 4 way tire iron, or some combination of a 7/8 in socket and a 1/2 in drive breaker bar, the socket needs to be 1/2 in drive as well. this tools maybe rented from local auto parts stores if you do not have availible. now, the lug nuts(the nuts holding the wheels on) may not be 7/8 inch size, depending on the rim package you have, there will be only five of course though. before you jack up the vehicle, you must break the lug nuts loose. take either the 4-way tire iron, or the breaker bar and use a lot of force and turn counter clockwise with the wheels on the ground, and the vehicle in park, with the parking brake on. break all five lug nuts loose(able to turn easily, by hand if desired) on both sides. then you must locate the vehicle frame underneath, and use the jack on the frame point only, never on the axleshaft or body part, and jack up one side of the vehicle until the wheel hangs freely, and place a jackstand next to the hydrualic jack close to touching the frame. lower the vehicle onto the jackstand and make sure the wheel will hang freely. repeat on the other side until both sides, wheels are hanging freely. then remove the lug nuts with either the tire iron, socket and breaker bar, or by hand. once all lug nuts are reomved, pull the wheels off. that should just about do it, hope i didn't leave anthing out, if putting back on, reverse steps, but hand tighten clockwise until tight against the studs, then lower the vehicle down and tighen each lug nut in a star fashion. make sure to tighten very well, you don't want the rims to fall off while driving. good luck.

I discovered i was driving for several days with 2 missing lug nuts, a 3rd totally loose and the remaining 2 not very tight


The tire must have been worked on recently. With aluminum rims, it's not common, but not unheard of for the lug nuts to work themselves loose after servicing. It is recommended to re-torque the nuts 50-75 miles after service. Go ahead replace and tighten the missing or loose ones, and then in a day or so; after having put on the recommend miles, re-tighten them to insure their tightness.

Unless you feel a wobble or anything else in the suspension that could work a lug nut loose, you really should not have anything to worry about this aside from re-torquing the nuts.

it seized on the hub is all. lay on side, kick with the back of you heel without laying under vehicle. thread on a lug a few turns so it doesnt take off. be carful! make sure its hoisted safely with a block or stand for back up

Broken Lugs For a Chevrolet Trailblazer


I might try a different shop. I have never heard of a broken Stud nut making any noise I hope they diagnosed a problem with the noise. Also in-experinced tire tech's over tighten lugs with their impact wrench and snap broken studs

you get all the lug nuts tight, the weight of the car on a loose lug can make that noise from the wheel, jack the car up and manually spin the tire, if you can give a more indepth description ill try to help, i have OnDemand5 if you have any other questions
