Question about 2001 Ford Expedition
Today as i was driving on the highway i noticed that as i excelerated above 65 my battery light was blinking..i refuse to believe it is the battery due to me just replacing it about 6months ago...any suggestions
95% sure it would be your alternator... If you have a "Batteries Plus" store anywhere near you they will do an amp check for free. the reason for the light coming on above a certain speed could be due to the metal brushes inside the alternator wearing down and not making good contact, because of the higher speed at which it is spinning you notice it more. You can kind of do a test on your own without tools also, but don't rely on it soley though. Turn the truck on in idle position, have the headlights off...then turn on the radio, the heat, make sure the dash lights are up as high as they will go, turn on the dome light ( that could make it harder to notice the result). Then turn on your headlights and pay attention to the radio and the dash lights.... If they dim down for even a second you alternator is on the way out. If they dim down and stay down you better get it changed because if you down it will do nothin but **** all the life from the new battery you have and you wiil have to replace that as well.
