1990 Jeep Wrangler. At random times the engine will just quit. If I use starting fluid it restarts and sometimes stays running, sometimes dies after it burns off the fluid. Wait a few minutes and it starts again. It seems to be a fuel issue. It's driving me nuts. I droped it to a Jeep dealership here in germany and they replaced the crank position sensor. It seemed okay...but then after a few days it was at it again...which most likely means it wasn't the CPS. Oh, anbd if this helps, around the same time this started happening the fuel gauge started reading improperly.

have you checked the fuel pump and filter do you have a way to place a fuel pressure guage inline with the fuel line drive see if it dips down or quits altogether ,i have an 87 jeep cherokee i isolated to the sensor on the fly wheel kept happening so changed the fuel pump never happened again

yes it could if something inside of it breaks it can clog it up also make sure all your grounds are clean if have to take them of clean the surface then reattach ,the bad part about mechanical is it has a diafram in it if it gets a hole in it itll still work but itll also create air pockets like vapor lock

Jeep will crank but no start what can my problem be

well you need to find out if it is spark or fuel giving you the problem check for spark first they have problems with the crankshaft position sensor which could be the problem not easy to get to its bolted to the bell housing with 2 bolts if you do not have spark that would be a good place to start

Not necessarily, you will just have to unplug it. The fan relay switch isn't that expensive so you should if you can. The multiple misfires usually means that you need a tune-up with plugs, coils and some sensors when required.

Mazda 323 1985 runs fine when cold after the car heats up it will randomly die. Just cuts out completely. Won't start straight away but after 30sec it will start like nothing was wrong. Then it will...

This is going to be tough to fix. Chances are its a relay or the ignition module, but until it gets to where it will not start for several minutes or not at all, you won't know if you have fixed it or not.
Something is getting hot, cooling off, then getting hot again.

I have a 96 jeep grand cherokee with a 4.0 It runs fine but then dies at random and wont start again until it sits for a while. Like i say it dies totally at random. Im thinking a sensor, anyone have

First I suggest scanned the fault codes stored there; turn the ignition key (without start engine) "on/off on/off on" and read odometer codes Pxxxx. Note this codes and send us for other details.

Keep in touch.

Ignition Coil

Look into the crank sensor or an ecu that needs repairing. Those two, being bad, will cause a no spark condition in your jeep.

My 1994 jeep grand cheeroke 4.0 inline 6 cyl will start but dies instantly afterward it has fuel but just randomly the security system started acting up i tried putting my key in driver door and turning it...

Try using the key-less entry to disarm the security. then I think I would get out the test light and look at the A.S.D. (auto shut down) relay in the fuse box under the hood. Verify it is not ignition switch. This relay gives the injectors, coil, and other things power.

Jeep cherokee dies out as if ignition was shut off, runs fine when its on except when the engine quits as if ignition was shut off, does not stutter or what not just shuts off

check power at ignition switch, could be bad. if no power to switch vehicle will not run.also check coils they could be getting hot and shutting down engine. check power to coils.
