Your problem is not likely to be caused by the switches themselves, because there really isn't much in a switch that can break or fail. Your problem is most likely a blown fuse. These are easy and inexpensive to replace. You just need to look in your owner's manual for instructions, it should tell you the location of your fuse box and which fuses are for what. You can get replacement fuses at any auto parts store or even hardware stores. Just make sure you look at the manual first to find out what kind you need.

You can try to get used ones or if that is not an option u will have to buy them from the dealer, these are what we call a dealer only part. How do u know the switches are bad?

Power seats not working

The first thing that I would recommend is to check the fuse box. Always start with the simplest thing first. If that isn't the issue, the next step would be to check under the seat and ensure that the wiring harness that powers the motor for the seat is connected. If for some reason that is not the issue, you need to check the connection to the power seat adjustment switch. If both of those are connected, you will then want to ensure that power is getting to both the switch and the motor. If you are getting power to the seat adjustment control and the motor the you may be looking at a faulty seat control switch, or a seat motor. Before you replace the motor you need to know that motors will "stick" and by gently tapping on the motor with a rubber mallet while activating the seat control will usually free the motor. If that doesn't work then you may need a new seat motor. I hope that you have found this information useful, thanks for using fixya!

The driver seat will not go forward

if going backward is working, and foward is not,, easy
,1st determine what is defective-so u know what to replace/repair-2 things only ,[1-switch or 2- motor under d seat]
by presing the backward swicth,, you can hear the sound of the motor running and u can see the seat is going backward...
1-now by pressing the foward switch, and you hear the motor running but not that strong like the rear ..and the seat move an inche /a little and stop,,.then u have a defect weak motor,
2- now by pressing the foward swicth and u dont hear any motor running then the switch is most likely defective
defective switch -repair- spray contact cleaner, remove cover switch, penetrate inside
defective motor-repair-remove motor replace inside carbon,,.chiepest way not to spend to much money..
i suggest even once a month,lubricate all power seat/even not powerseat/,door hinges/.trunk door/.power antenna./ .by spraying lubricating oil,. for maintanace,..you can save a lot..

that is easy find the motor under the seat that moves the seat back and forth take and neg wire and a hot wire carefully touch the twoo prongs going to the motor after diconnecting the plug going into the motor. it sould go forward one way and croos the wires to get it to go the other way if this works get a new switch and have a working seat.

9 position power seats dont go back or forward in98 pontiac ssei

Check the wiring harness connect under the seat and carpeting for a break in the wires to the seat. If no problem is found, then the seat motor is bad.

The Lumbar support adjustment fails

I wonder if you dont have a bad switch. I had a similar problem on my car except that it was the heated seats that would not engage... the power seat buttons all worked just fine. I changed the switch and it fixed the problem...
