My wife's 2000 Blazer had the same issue last weekend. It ran very rough, then I shut it down and it took me over 45 min and a jump pack to get it started. I don't know what caused it or what fixed it though. Now it runs fine but this week the transmission wont take off like it should from a stop. Shift it manually from 1st and up and it goes fine. It does have a nasty clunk from 3rd to 2nd at about 2mph though.

check for trouble codes, check fuel pressure, check for spark, do these in this order.check for trouble codes, check fuel pressure, check for spark, do these in this order.
I had the same problem and all that was wrong was a bad fuse, look under the hood in the black fuse box and there should be a fuse, eng1 that should be 15amp check it out or replace it and see if this will fix your problem

wont crank?
or cranks robustly (the crankshaft spins fast) but wont start.
all cars that dont start one, all ran when new. etc.
what counts is the now. only.
you need to do the tests. all covered in the FSM or at alldata.com
i cant help you because you . cuz did not say crank or start? so......
1: test all fuses. (not just gandering, use a meter)
2: check battery voltage 12.6vdc rested.
3: if not cranking, wiggle the shilter (a/t) or clutch if m/T
if a/t? try cranking in Neutral. cranks now? bingo.
4: cranks ok, and fast so check spark/
ill end there, due to vast number of tests and no clear stated
symptoms.
ever give it a full tuneup (60,000 mile service schedule?) or this DECADE. if not why ask the spark plug question.
- Switch on the head lamps for 5 minutes.
- Keeping the head lamps ON, start the engine. If the lights die,
- Check the battery terminals.
- Check battery state of charge.
- Charging system. If the lights still glow sharply,
- Check fuses and relays in under the hood fuse and relay box junction.
- Battery to starter motor cable.
- Battery to engine ground and chassis ground cable.
- Solenoid on starter motor.
- Starter motor.
- Wiring.
-Ignition switch.
I had a similar problem with a 1999 Chevy Astro. All fuses checked out good. Several posts advised cleaning the battery terminals, checking out the ECU to cutting the yellow wire from the ignition switch, check to see if it'll crank on Neutral, and also checking/replacing the brake switch. I simply removed several keys from the key ring, then shot several bursts of air from an air can (some keys are keyed to the ECU to turn off the Security System when attempting to start the engine), then waited several minutes for any condensation to dissipate, then was able to crank the engine to life.
not sure if any off this will help you o
The starter won't crank. If nothing happens when you turn the ignition key to the "Start" position, it means that the starter motor doesn't turn over the engine. Most commonly this could be caused by a dead battery; here is How to check the battery. ... The ignition switch could be bad - it's a common problem.13 Aug 2013
My truck did this after I replaced the fuel pump. Turned out to Fuel Pressure Regulator. It would crank and crank but never start. It's located underneath the black plastic manifold on the side of the injectors.
ck the crank position sensor. It's on the front of ehgine at the crank pully. If there seems to be a fuel problem, ck the maf sensor. first sensor out of air cleaner. good luck
Possibly a crank sensor on or around the harmonic balancer, acts as a magnet like on an old buick. When you get the truck to fire up run it until she gets hot shut it and try to restart if no start continues try spraying starter fluid on the crank sensor itself. What happens is the sensor overheats and wont register that your cranking the engine. Spraying the starting fluid on the sensor will cool it dramaticlly enough for you to restart.
it turns over but will not start
