Question about 1998 Honda Civic

1997 Honda Civic EX Keyless entry programming

I lost my keyless entry and purchased a replacement on line, it looks the same as my original, it is a Honda keyless remote.  It came with programming instructions.  According to the Honda dealers I have contacted, based on my VIN my car has factory keyless system.  The replacement remote came with programming instructions identical to those I read here for a '98 Civic, however, I cannot get it to program using these instructions.   One dealer told me I would have to have the original factory radio, which I no longer have as it did not have a cd player, just am/fm cassette.  Any ideas on why it won't program?  Thanks in advance.

If you still have the factory radio, there is a way to split the power wire for the factory radio to the aftermarket radio. All you will need are the power and ground for your aftermarket radio, so the rest of the wires should be untouched on the plug for the factory radio. You can simply re-install the radio within the dash and retain the keyless entry as well as restoring your dome light function. Here's a PDF of some instructions. If you did not keep the radio, I would suggest looking online or ins ome junk yards, because it is needed.

Volume on honda civic radio not working

atxhonda is right. Your going to have to replace the stereo and an aft mkt stereo will be the cheapest by far, however you should know that 96-00 Civics keyless entry control unit is inside the factory unit and by replacing it with an aftermarket deck you will lose you factory keyless entry system. If you don't have or use honda factory keyless entry or maybe you have an aft mkt keyless entry installed than I would go with the aft mkt deck.

My car had it's battery die on it and so the programming for the Keyless entry is gone and so it won't work. My question is how do I reprogram my keyless entry to my 1999 Honda Civic LX?

if you do not have the codes go to the dealer with proof of ownership (because it's a security feature) and tell them you need the codes for that year. you will also need to give them your vin. it's pretty much that or having them do it

Keyless entry on honda civic 2006 not working

The keyless entry is designed to work with the doors closed (closed - not locked). If the door ajar sensor thinks the door is open the keyless entry is disabled. When you manually lock the door it might tighten the door just enough to activate the keyless entry. I would try slamming all the doors closed and then see if the keyless entry works. If it still wont work have the wiring checked on the front door lock.

Program a fob for a 1996 honda civic ex

If you still have the factory keyless entry for your civic, the stock radio is still located within the car. Most likely it is located behind the center console. There is a button on the radio between the AM/FM and CD buttons. Turn the ignition on without starting the car, hold the button down and push any button on the fob to program the fob.
