Hesitation on Saab 1996 900s

I have had a problem with my Saab that is kind of intermittent. Sometimes when I am driving it, taking a left or through lots of start and stop driving, when I hit the gas it hesitates to the point of the car almost stalling. I basically have to floor it so it won't stall. I took it to the shop and they checked fuel pump, cleaned the throttle position sensor, put new plugs and wires, a new distributor in and I replaced the battery. They don't get any code from the computer.

The car doesn't do this all the time, but probably 60% of the time I drive it. I am wondering if they messed up the TPS when they cleaned it.

What, other than plugs, wires , cap and rotor would be causing loss of power on acceleration, but not all the time,, intermittently.

There is a vacuum advance attached to the distributor. Inside the vacuum advance is a rubber diaphragm that can crack from age an no longer work. Sometimes the vacuum hose that attaches to it may not be getting proper vacuum. This device adjusts your timing when you accelerate. Improper function could cause the problems you describe. Also, a vacuum leak in any of your vacuum system could cause the problem your describing. Too much air intake on take off from a faulty vacuum system could throw off your air fuel mixture on acceleration causing hesitation until the air fuel mixture can catch up which is when the power comes back. Hope this helps.

Is the wiring good going to the O2 sensors? Maybe just look the car over and see if you have any bad grounds. They can do weird things. Could be a bad ICU.

Kind of an odd problem. This may be off in a different direction but I had an 78 BMW that the left turn signal did the same thing .It turned out to be the hazard light switch had a short in it. The problem was intermittent and very frustrating. The fix was a trip to the junk yard for a set of rims and the switch was a freebie. Don't know if this will help but I guess it can't hurt.

I have put a ford refurbished tranny in and rebuilt the shifter assembly twice - 2004 mountaineer. Why am I still getting hesitation going into gear? intermittant problem, most going from park to reverse.

The transmission many to relearn shift points which can take several miles of driving is some cases. drive the car for a while, the hesitation in shifting continues have your dealer flash the ecu

Check engine and check gearbox lights

As Saab is in relation to Subaru.....the first thing I would check is the spark plugs, ignition coil and spark plug wires. Have a technician check them for carbon tracking as if you are getting some hesitation and is inconsistant you may very well have a missfire. Minor problem but could be costly depending upon if it's got a single coil or one for each cylinder.
