Question about 2000 Ford F350 Super Duty Super Cab

1 Answer

2000 F350 Super Duty V10 Power problem, Truck starts up ok, but has a problem on acceleration, I changed the fuel and air filter with no difference. I checked my fuel pressures and they seem low to me....With key on and engine off Ihave 13psi, engine started and idling I have 30 psi turn off engine and the pressure drops 2psi and then came up to 32psi with engine off and holds there at 32 psi. Also I want to make sure that i checked at the correct spot.....On the right side of engine (as seen from the drivers seat) near the rear on the injector rail the shrader valve?? Can you offer me some help

on acceleration the engine spits and sputters I dont know how else to describe it, the rpms dont come up and I checked the pressures again while accelerating and the dropped off drastic the psi came down to 12 when It was spitting and sputtering also this is inconsistent the pressures are dropping off at acceleration but in the four times that i tried it the pressure only dropped that drastic once.....the pressures are still dropping off but that was the only time they dropped that bad usually it is approx to 20 psi on acceleration

i found the rubber hose and blocked off the return line and my pressures came up....key on engine off was 50 psi and when i started the engine it went up to 80 psi i didnt accelerate bcuz i wasnt sure if i would cause a problem......... should i try to accelerate to see if the problem goes away or can we be 99.9% sure that the regulator is the problem

Your choises are...bad fuel pump, restricted fuel filter (new?) bad fuel pressure regulator...out of gas....can you pinch off the return fuel line to the tank? some are rubber and some are hard plastic...dont pinch the plastic. This will give you the unregulated pump pressure. If it doesn't go up you have a bad pump or it's drawing air from the tank (pick up restricted/fell off or no fuel) if pressure goes way up and runs good your regulator is bad

Yes I would say its bad but it wont hurt drive it with high fuel pressure, it will run a little rich. Use vise grips or something similar so you can play regulator and go for a drive

I have an 06 f350 super duty with a 6.0 litre diesel. The truck starts fine. But when i start to drive it accelerates roughly like its sputtering this only goes on until truck is fully warmed up. I have...

yes it sounds like the pressure regulator. the only way to be sure is have a scan machine put on the truck, then you can see the pressure when truck is cold. They are quite pricey so dont just change it without checking the pressure first.

2000 F350 Super Duty V10 Power problem

Check the fuel pressure while the problem occures....needs to hold 35psi or so under load. You might also have ignition breakdown. Is the Check eng light on? You have coil on plug right? you really need a scanner to id the misfiring cylinder the try moving coils around to see if the problem move with it.

F350 2000 stalling and sputtering while driving after running a while or runs fine

Many possibilities:
Is it a Diesel?
Camshaft position sensor recall may cover it.
Gas or Diesel:
Fuel Pump and/or relay.
Fuel Filter.

Engine codes could help if Check Engine Light is on.
