Question about 2001 Pontiac Aztek

1 Answer

FUEL ODOR I have a 2001 Pontiac Aztec and when I turn the defrost on in the defrost and floor mode I get the strong smell of fuel. It goes away when I turn it back to the dash vents. I received a recall from GMC about a year or so ago about the possibility of the gas vent lines cracking. I was way over the mileage allowed, so I didn't take it in. Is it possible this is the problem and how do I repair it?

If you have a recall the dealer has to fix this problem reguardless of the mileage. So call them and mention the recall and have them make an appointment. You should not have to pay for this. I hope this helps.

2001 Tundra 4.7 L won't idle when cold. Has new plugs and coils.

The coolant temperature sensor signal to the computer determines fuel injection ratio. When it fails the car will be slow to start and a strong odor of gasoline. turn it off and it will start as normal. A failed sensor will also cause stall at idle speed and poor gas milage. the sensor is located near the top radiator hose connection at the thermostat housing.Use a 19 MM deep well socket.

There is a strong odor of gas coming from my 2008 Pontiac G6 do you know if there is a recall

Here is a full list of your recalls.

However, y9ur gas smell could be a cracked fuel filter, or cracked full line, or loose injector port. Get it looked at if you do not know how to check these things. The heat of your engine mixed with a fuel leak is a bad combination

My 2004 pontiac grand am had acheck evaporate code 0442 . I tried the first easiest part and also mine was very worn out was the fuel cap. I replaced the fuel cap with a new one. Check engine light had...

OK, P0442 is an evaporative leak fault. The gas cap may well have corrected that issue. If you smell gas from the engine area you almost certainly have a fuel leak. You should be very careful - you don't want your car to catch fire and put people's lives in danger. When a car catches fire it goes up very quickly, and if it's near your home....

Look by the fuel injectors and fuel rail for signs of a leak. If you don't see anything there have a professional technician look at it.

lift the back seat and their should be an access panel on the floor pan where you gain access to the fuel sender which houses the fuel pump and i suspect that their is a leak here on the pressure side ,now if your unsure about tackling this type of job please go straight to a local mechanic to have a look for you as the vehicle is dangerous in this condition and could catch fire and petrol vapour is more explosive than liquid petrol.

I have a 94 grand prix se 3.1. When i first start it ir smells like gas. It goes away and then comes back at red lights..... I cant find any leaks... Any ideas?

It may be the fuel pressure regulator located on the fuel rail on top of the motor it leaches out a very small amount of gas when they start to go inspect it if it looks even a little bit wet replace it, if this is not wet then the gas cap may not be venting properly replace it.

Strong smell of gas on cold startup

I have a 2002 Impala, and on cold days on the first start of the day had strong fuel smell. I troubleshot the problem to the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail was leaking around the seams. I replaced the regulator and have had no problems since. Hope this helps.

Strong gas smell and poor gas mileage

If the gas odor is coming from the engine, than the problem is most likely a cracked or poorly seated fuel injector.
