Oil drain plug leaks, even when replaced with a new one

I have a 98 honda accord and there is a small oil leak ( little drips) from the oil drain plug. I have changed the plug with a new one several times and even placed gasket sealer on the threads on some occasion but it still leaks by droplets, not much. The pan is not dented and seem perfectly fine. I just hate the fact that it is leaking. I would say I lose about a quart every 3000 miles. Help!!!!

Its going to be the treads of the oil pan. tale it to an auto shop and have them re tap(put new threads) in the oil pan and this will fix the problem. hope this helps.

You need a washer on the drain plug. This will create the seal.

Yes there is. if it leaks, find out where. You may have engine damage from running the car out of oil. You say it leaks from the oil pump, same as before? was the oil pump replaced? Sounds like a pressure fed leak, so it should be easy to find.

98 honda accord leaking oil from under horminic balancer it has 250 000 miles and has lot of blow by if i change seal or gasket will it still leak

It should stop leaking if you replace the front harmonic balancer oil seal. With the amount of mileage you have on your car, that seal definitely needs to be changed.

There is a special dye you can purchase. You pour it into your oil let it run for a little bit and have it sit over night. Then you check it with a black light and it will glow blue or purple from where your initial leak is coming from. good luck.
