I personally own a 99 Durango and have run into this myself. It would be going along just peachy and then it would stall like you turned the key off. Sound familiar? It is a common issue with the 5.2 and 5.9. All it is, is a bad crank sensor. Its located on the drivers rear side of the engine at the 2:00 position. Replace it and all should be well.
The crank sensor is located on the trans. bell housing.Look behind the engine where the tranny bolts to the block and on top of the bell housing just a little off center you will see the sensor which has 2 bolts mounting it in place. It has a 6in length of wire attached to it with a plug on the end. This sensor reads off the flywheel.Hope this helps.
