Question about 1998 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup
Sounds like throttle positioning sensor on side of throttle body or the gasket below tthe throttle body has gone bad.

Sometimes the gasket under the trottle body goes bad. spray carb cleaner at the base of the trottle (not down into it) body while the engine is running. if the idle changes your on the right track. its an easy gasket to change.
