My fuel door also broke and fell off. The bracket that connects it to the car is broken, and a piece of it is still riveted to the car.

Did anyone ever figure out how to install a new one?

when it rusted off, is there still the little arm that you can swing/pull out ? if there is take your new cover and go to ace hardware and get the (prolly) to short bolts that thread into the new cover/or the arm that is still on your car i hope. usually just a ten mm or 8 mm bolt.

I had the same problem and I drilled out the does work after giving it a little time. You will be able to drill all the way through the rivet and then pull it out. You'll have to order a new hinge or door and reinstall the rivets. Can go to Harbor Freight Tools and get a rivet tool with rivets if you don't have one. They're not expensive.

My fuel door broke off, can I fix it using the old fuel door without buying new one. It is a 2003 Celica

no not really but you could look for one in a slavage yard. find one that lets you pull off your parts as they are cheap. usually just two bolts to remove. some are riveted on but not many. good luck

Sounds like the connection from the battery to the chassis ground is bad. Try replacing the Negative battery wire and make sure where it attaches to the frame is as rust free as possible

Thanks you for asking for my assistance.
Let me clarify, the entire handle assembly is moving on the outside of the door when you open it; it is real loose? If so, there are two 10 millimeter bolts that hold the handle in place. Yes, you do have to pull off the door panel to access the handle bolts. I can give you the panel removal proceedure if you need it.

Fuel filter

at the begining is very complicate because it is necessary to remove a lot of pieces. I had the same problem and solved it cutting the fuel line and I had to install a new filter with clamps. It will allow you to remove it again without problem.
