I have the same problem on my 2005 Jetta, it started on Tuesday 3 February. I finally was able to get to the dealer and bought a new flasher unit $41.00 with tax. The unit is integrated with the 4 way flasher switch. Take a couple of thin knifes and pry on the left and right side of the switch at the same time to pull the old one out. The wiring harness is a real pain. I replace mine and I still get the flashing. I know on some American cars if a turn bulb burns out the flashing cycle changes, so I checked the bulbs and all of them are lighting. Can the problem be the turn switch? How do you remove it? I pulled the upper cover by unscrewing the two phillips screws on the bottom, I could not remove the part connecting it to the insturment panel. I was unable to figure out how to remove the switch itself from the column. Any suggestions?

You said that you bought a knew flasher. did you mean the relay or what? if it is the relay then if you turn on the flashes and listen you should be able to find where it is located at. usually it is located under the dash on one of the sides if not there then check under the hood by the fire wall.

THE HAZARD SWITCH IS YOUR FLASHER, IT'S ALL TOGETHER, IT WILL COST YOU AROUND $ 25.- AT THE DEALER I RECOMMEND TO USE OEM FROM DEALER, I JUST REPLACED ONE AND I GOT BOTH THE AFTERMARKET AND THE OEM, AFTERMARKET DID NOT WORK THIS CARS ARE MORE DIFICULT, I PUT THE OEM AND EVERYTHING WORKED FINE.
YOU JUST HAVE TO PRY THE SWITCH OUT, IT HAS TWO METAL LOCKS.

Hi the turn signals on my vw jetta 1997 just stopped working as well as the hazard lights. The fuses appear to be fine. Any suggestions would be most helpful....Thanks!!!

it is most likely the flasher unit is faulty & needs to be replaced, this unit serves turn signal & hazard lights, you should find it under the dash on drivers side,it may be a square or round unit with a connector plug on the top.....hope this helps......cheers.

Have 2000 VW Jetta, turning signal stops working intermittently. starts signal then stops blinking during turn or sometimes it works fine, sometimes won/t. all bulbs working & all other functions on...

I pulled my switch out of the dash and sprayed it with contact cleaner. Air dry and put back in. 2 years without a problem. If you're not electrical savy, I'm pretty sure there was a recall on that, and it should be replaced for free.

Signal lights don't work, I've changed the fuses..1996vw jetta

Most likely a bad turn signal flasher . if the flasher is proper then check out if the socket where you insert the bulb is getting proper voltage.if not change that socket.
