Question about 2007 Chrysler Town & Country LX New Cars
I feel the range on my remotes is not satisfactory. Sometimes it works at 30 feet, most of the time it works at 10 feet, and sometimes I need to be within 2 feet of my van for the doors to unlock. Two times neither remote worked and I had to use the key. New batteries were tried, nothing changed. The dealer checked it out and said there was nothing wrong with it. Chrysler states 23 feet for the working range. My 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee works from 150 feet. Anyway, I still think there is a problem. I would like to know the location of the receiver so I can physically look at it and maybe even change it out myself, since the dealer told me on the second time in that they can't find anything wrong with it. It is very frustrating have to be within 5 feet of the van to open a door. I might as well use the key. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you need to take it to the dealer and have them check the bcm for codes.... also have them check to be sure you have the latest software in the bcm.. its possible that you just need a software update... there are several TSB's covering the concern you have..... it can be a very simple fix with software or even a stuck lock switch may need to be replaced... without the proper diagnostic codes being read from the bcm all that can be done is guessing..and that can be expensive...

your door panel can come off and you can access internal door locking mechanism from inside car first inspect to see all rods are hooked into plastic sleeves then make sure lock is disengaged by pulling rod towards rear of van it should then be able to be opened easily if not your locking mechanism is frozen inside of door between a pillar and door it will have to be pushed to open from inside of door panel once you do that door will open if you cant make lock work manually once this is done replace locking mechanism or rods accordingly.

the body controller is at fault it may need the software update from the dealer... one thing you can do is disconnect the battery for about 5 minutes then when you reconnect it... the fob will work again...
