How to replace the water temp sender in a 2003 Audi Allroad

I need to replace the water temp sender in my 2003 Audi Allroad. I understand the sender is located on the top-rear of the engine (between the engine and firewall). What are the steps necessary to access and replace the temp sender?

Thanks for the post! However my primary interest/question is; WHAT ARE THE STEPS NECESSARY TO ACCESS THE SENDER? - i.e. exactly where is it and what has to be removed to gain access and what is the best access point (left side, right side, below...)

    Thanks again.

Make sure engine is COLD. put little grease around new sensor and keep it close at hand. Remove the plug on the sensor, then slide the retaining that holds sensor in, out. pull sensor our of housing and quickly replace with new. replace clip and plug. top up coolant if necessary. easy as that..

Fair enough but you didnt tell me the what engine was in it.

Usually there is nothing to take off to get into it, however some of the petrols have the air intake pipe running across the top of it. im assuming its the 1.9tdi and not the V6, the sensor is at the back of the engine. Follow rocker cover back towards the firewall and as it drops down to the gearbox area you will see some coolant hoses with a plastic block with the coolant sensors installed. The sensor is usually green in colour. If you find it, refer to my previous post for removal and refit.

My cigarette lighter outlets no longer work with car chargers. Do I need to replace a fuse and where is the fuse box on my 2003 allroad?

For 2003 Audi Allroad the fuse box is located on the left side of dashboard behind a plastic cover (for left hand steering wheel vehicle). On inner face of the plastic cover you will find the fuse diagram. Fuse no.# 33 (15A) = Cigarette lighter (for front & rear sockets).
