Question about 1993 Toyota Camry V6

Pulling drivers side half shaft on Toyota Camry 93 4 cyl

Took everything apart like the book says. Can't get the shaft out of the differential. Went and got a slide hammer, hooked it up to the spline where the tire would hook up. Hit it a few times and the shaft broke where the inner boot is. What am I doing wrong? I know there is a snap ring on the end of the spline but that is inside the differential. Can you help?

There is a pin in the differental that has to be taken out to pull the axles out. 1-bolt to remove the pin, then the C-clips will come off to slide the axles out.

One or both the shafts is the incorrect size and is not engaging the gears correctly. Double check the part numbers and make sure you have the correct shafts and that they have engaged into the differential correctly. They actually go into the differential not the transmission directly.

Electrical problems

Regarding the short circuit: Open the trunk lid. Locate & examine the wiring that comes from the driver side of the trunk, and snakes up the driver side trunk lid support. Follow the wire harness down under the rear parcel shelf; untape the wiring harness. You are prob going to find some broken/shorted wires here. This is a very, very common problem.

Regarding the check engine light; sorry, without a DTC from Autozone, I cannot comment on a solution.

4 wheel drive

on the right side of differential there's an axle tube that goes to the right side half shaft, the 4wd actuator is on top of that tube, i believe in 93 it is still freon charged so it can go away slowly and when it is cold, just unplug the wire and unscrew, you can update to an electric actuator, but on some models you need to grind the axle tube a little
