I assume you have a 700 R4 trans. Check your throttle linkage. Sounds like it's out of adjustment, maybe loose in the holding bracket.

If you haven't yet, join some Corvette forums online. You'll get a wealth of information there. This sounds like a possible core problem but it's hard to diagnose over a keyboard. Good luck with it!

What transmission is in a 1990 corvette?I think it is a 700r4?and if yes will any 700r4 fit ?

No there are different 700R4 transmission, well that not quite true. The 700R4 had many jobs to matted to Corvettes to SUVs, the internals are where the differences were in the 700R4 such as the servo's and boost valve which can be easily replaced. Best thing to do is to got to a Transmission shop that can build a transmissions for your Corvette or buy a replacement 700R4 for your year of Corvette. That is why the shift points and firmness are different in a Corvette then a Cadillac while they both have 700R4 in the 1990's. Be bad for a Corvette to shift like Grandma's Cadillac going to play dingo. Good luck and hope this helps.

don't get too frustrated jeremy it's not real bad , all you need is a simple tune-up and / or flush . it sounds like a slight issue with the vaccuum in which your getting less than normal as it starts getting warm. old fluid , slight leak at the pan or the output shaft seal , inthe back of tranny at the drive shaft , or aleak in the vaccuum line that goes in to the side of your trans. you have a vaccuum operated valve called a modulator valve that controls the firmness of your shift.less vaccuum the harder the shift. a simple flush and tune will most likely fix your problem. just give her a little finness every once in a while and she wont let you down... she'll be loyal , and if she don't , take her to a ford dealership and drop her off and leave her i a new ford truck. no dont do that just getting into more problems doing that. use a full synthetic fluid to put back into your tranny , depending on your budget of course, bring the shop some lucus or royal purple synthetic fluid to go back in it. good luck
