that could be transmission issue/ front end issue/ with out driving the vehicle hard to say.
my 88 had overdrive shudder going up hill transmission need a rebuild. that all i got with out driving the veh srry.
when trying to figure out what going on with the veh you need to isolate the cause of the vibration , front. rear of the veh.put the veh on jack stand and drive it see if you can figure were that vibration is comeing from
Belt is worn out, or tesioner pulley is worn out. Check to see that all your pulleys line up correctly also, that can cause the belt to 'walk' off a pulley.
you will need a ratchet wrench or box end wrench with a 5/8" size socket or wrench to hold pressure on the tensioner to remove tension off the belt,then remove old belt and reverse procedure,the belt routing is usually located on the top of the radiator or in the owners manual
remove the mount from it. The lower mounts will keep the engine in place. The upper mount is a stablelizer to keep the engine in check when high torque to the engine is created while driving
To change the blinker or headlight bulb on an 1997 Oldsmobile 88: Open the hood, remove the plastic cover thing so that you can see the housing for the light. On the back side of the housing there are three clips, remove those (I was able to remove them with just my fingers). Once the clips are removed the whole headlight slides out the front of the car. Now you can easily replace any of the blown bulbs.
on the pass side against the fire wall down low. you will need a long flexible funnel. the cap will be black and hard to see and its close to the belt. its there use a light if needed good luck.
Hi, be sure you have the power stering fluid to the max level, check the condition of the belt if is in good condition adjust it properly ,when the car turns ,it adds more presure to the pump and if the belt is not tight it will slips and make that screching noise ....good luck...
