Hi, the 1997 Wrangler has two fuses to check. Both in the Power Distribution Center (PDC) under the hood. Fuse 3 supplies the accessory circuits through the ignition key and energizes the coil of the accessory relay. If your radio works that fuse is OK. The other fuse, fuse 5 supplies the power to the accessory socket when the relay is energized. The relay is behind the glove box and mounted to a stack of multi-wire connectors.
Replace fuse 3

The fuse for the wipers on a 97 wrangler are located behind glove box just unhook strap that holds up glove box and replace.

Check for un-isulated connection on the hot wire lead. It might have been after-market but on mine the connection would short out, blowing a fuse. 1 inch of heat shrink tube fixed the problem.

check all you fuses and if still not working check the connections to the lighter itself .

in some cases the lighter may need replacement as they do go bad over time and use .

it most likely just a fuse,check all fuses first,

there is another fuse box under the hood in front of the battery. it will be a small 10 or 15 amp fuse change it and all will work again. if that is not the problem then check behind the glove compartment there will be another fuse box.

most of the time they are tight, use a fuse puller tool or just a pair of needle nose pliers and yank!

Usually you need to be able to reach the back side of the old cigarette lighter to unscrew it and unplug it from the dash... undo the wiring and slide the new one in... really simple.... good luck

under the dash on the drivers side ... i believe the radio uses the same fuse as the lighter.
