These vans are notorious for worn sway bar bushings. It's hard to say what for sure it is without physically looking at the bushings, swaybar links, ball joints, struts and strut towers. Also depending on what part of the country you live in, the strut caps under the hood where the top of the struts bolt to like to rot out due to road salt. This is dangerous if this is the case. Chrysler sells them for about $20.00 each, but they have to be pop riveted in or welded in. This is quite a time comsuming job. I am giving you all the senarios, but if your lucky it will be the sway bar bushings and these are cheap and easy to install if you have any mechanical ability. Good luck and keep us posted on what you find.

You may have two problems. The popping could be one problem, while the grinding could be another.

By your description the grinding is worn brake pads and should be looked at by a professional ASAP. This could be a extremely dangerous.

I replaced both sway bar links as well as the bushings this past summer and things are still quiet. I had the same clunking noise as well when going over bumps (Drives you crazy!). Did you try changing the bushings as well? They are $16 for a set of Moog bushing at O'Reilly's. http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/MOO0/K7406.oap?year=2001&make=Dodge&model=Grand%2BCaravan&vi=1400027&pt=02972&ppt=C0106

TORQUE CONVERTOR CLUTCH FAILURE COMMON.
CHANGE TRANSMISSION FILTER AND ROAD TEST.
IF NOISE IS GONE AND RUNS NORMALLY, CHANGE TORQUE CONVERTOR AND RESEAL TRANSMISSION.

I have a 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport w/ 3.3l flex fuel and the van is idling odd. I have changed the MAP sensor, the IAC sensor, and the spark plugs and wires, and no change.

Could be that your coil pack has gone bad. This is not a cheap piece though, so you will want to be sure.

Does it run fine when up off of idle, or does it also seem to be missing as you drive down the road.

You may have bad CV joints located just behind the brake rotors and at the end of the axles. Check for bad wheel bearings while you are there. Hope this helps!

You can drive on those struts untill it has no sping, and even then it is just dangerous because of bad handling. If it is you struts, then your car should bounce up and down if you tap the brakes, because the gas seal is leaking.
Struts are very easy to replace. The only special tool is a spring compressor, but it is easy to use, and you may be able to borrow one at an auto parts store like the AutoZone. Just a couple bolts at the top and bottom, and it comes right out. They cost less than $100.
If it doesn't bounce...it could be your half-shaft. Does it click when you make a turn backing up?

sounds like an electrical nightmare! start by removing the cluster, now try signals are they working if yes then bad cluster, also i had a few caravans that just had bad connections i removed the plugs and reconnected them and it worked fine, also with the light coming on with your foot on the brake may be a bad or in correctly installed bulb, check all brakeand signal bulbs, try all of this , good luck, hope this is helpful.

Front stabilizer/sway bar bushings sound worn. I had same, on my 91'. Felt like someone was thumping the floor under my feet sometimes. I managed to get away with spinning the outer ones at control arms, but replaced ones in middle at frame.

Front of car poping

you need to baseline brakes by replacing all components ..rotors and loaded calipers...hoses need to be replaced also from hard lines to calipers if at all suspect for internal collapse...thats your primary safety issue.. then yes your strut tower bearings likely have failed and / or lower control arm bushing or ball joint....good luck
