Question about 1989 Honda Prelude

1 Answer

Gasoline Smell A gasoline odor comes from my 2000 Honda Accord V6 when I first start it up and during the first 30 minutes or so of operation. It also has a funny noise, like something loose when I start it. The dealer can't find anything wrong but the gas smell is very strong. If not a leak could there be a vent problem?

i have the same problem with my 1997 quest. the source of the problem is twofold: the charcoal canister that recycles unspend fuel fumes back into the gas tank and the valve that controls this function.

I haven't taken time to get this fixed, but my research indicates a pretty simple solution with just a few parts. Still not a task for the average person, take it to a ggod mechanic

You may have a small hole in the exhaust line somewhere (I had one just past the cat converter on my Honda). Have Meineke check it out for you (they'll look for free!)

Why is gasoline coming out thru throutlebody on 2000 accor v6

The only reason fuel will come out of the throttle body is if an injector is stuck open. I would recommend running seafoam cleaner through the gas if it still runs. If it doesn't, try to locate which injector is stuck and tap on it with a screwdriver to see if it will unstick. With a long screwdriver to your eat you should be able to touch the other end to the injectors and hear them. If you can't hear it flow with the engine off, you should hear them click when it's running. If one doesn't click it's likely you're culprit.

When driving i can smell gas in my 2000 lexus es300

possibly your O rings which isolates fuel injectors from engine block are getting old and letting gasoline go out. it is very dangerous since it can cause fire. do not drive.

another cause is broken loose or cracked fuel lines. this is equally dangerous since it is under hood close to hot exhaust manifold.

if smell is from exhaust manifold, which means not the smeel of gasoline but exhaust fumes, this can be caused by broken exhaust manifold or a crack on it or problematic exhaust manifold gasket.

Honda accord v6 air bleed valve, where is it

After 1995, Honda stop using the coolant bleed screw.

Just run the engine with radiator cap off for 30 minutes, keeping the
coolant level topped of.

You should hear the fan come on 2-3 times.

Replace cap and make sure overflow tank is at "hot" level.
Hope this helps, James Booth

91 Maxima Gasoline odor when I first start the car

If it is running fine, the busted bolt isn't the source of the gasoline smell. The intake manifold has vacuum, so the smell wouldn't be getting out, air would be going in, and a vacuum leak would give you poor idling. The exhaust manifold wouldn't have much raw gasoline smell. But it would have loud noise if the broken bolt were causing an exhaust leak.

Check that the vapor recovery line is not broken or disconnected. The hose connectors get cracked. If that were broken, it would cause a gasoline smell after the car has been sitting, especially if it has been sitting in the sun, heat driving gasoline vapor out of the tank. It is supposed to condense in the vapor canister, but some escapes if the line is broken. If it is broken, driving would **** out the gasoline from the line and the wind would dissipate the smell.

Or it could be a leaking injector. With the injector cover off, engine idling and cool, you can visually look for raw gas around the injectors and injector rail connections.

Hope this helps.

Intermitten starting issues with 1993 Mazda MX5 Miata

Sounds like a heat sensitive sensor--either the crankshaft or camshaft unit. Is the check engine light on? If so, rent a scanner, read any code(s), and pursue to repair(s).

I have a 98 Honda Accord v6, that runs fine 99% of the time sometimes when I get gas or randomly it will not start..it turns over but sounds like it is getting no gas at all. Usually if I wait a few...

You might want to replace the fuel filter and check your fuel pump. If the fuel filter gets dirty it will slow or stop the fuel from going to the injectors/carb....it can also cause the injectors/carb to become fouled or blocked. Be aware that buying gasoline from a service station when they are receiving a fuel delivery is a good way of getting a lot of unwanted sediment from their tanks into yours.
