Question about 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The A/C om my 2000 jeep grand cherokee is not working though the compressor appears to be okay, how do I correct this problem?

You may have to refill it with refrigerant. You can buy a can and tools needed and do it yourself. Or have it done by a pro.

You need to check the compressor, it sounds like the unit is low on gas. You can try to clean the filter that should be situated behinf the cubby hole on the passenger side. It should be a cartridge filter that you can pull out.

sounds like system is low on freon,? safety switch turns system off when too low on freon to prevent burning itself (the compressor) up...

Grand jeep cherokee laredo A/C only blowing hot air. Checked refrigerant and it is okay. Any other ideas?


Make sure the compressor is engaged an running,and the dryer is cold,if so,then the temp door actuator motor is not working,it is in the dash mounted on the blower box,the dash will have to be pulled out toward the seats to replace the actuator motor

fill it up and wait for it to leak again. Its about the only way your going to find it for sure. Rev it up and let it get hot in the driveway.

Try to find out if the compressor is getting power..

Check all fuses & relays..
Do you hear the compressor kikking on ??

A/c does not work


Have a certified shop check the A/C system charge. More than likely it's low on freon, which will keep the A/C compressor from coming on. Its possible it could just need to be charged up. Be prepared though... it's possible the compressor itself could be bad, and that gets expensive. Good luck.

you need to check wiring between lf door and body..peel back rubber boot and pull on wires..you will find 1 or more broken wires..can be repaired

check the fuse with a test light for power. if there is power on both sides of the fuse carefully insert the test light into the outlet and check the very center for power...if there is no power you have a wiring or connection problem.. if there is only power on one side of the fuse the fuse is bad
