Question about 1999 Suzuki Grand Vitara
I need to know what to expect if I have to replace/repair a 2000 Suzuki Rear Axle Bearing to remove the axles, Bleed the brakes, replace bearings, seals, machinging and axle fuel -- help! What does something like this cost and how do I know I need to do that?
I have never changed it by myself.

No. Did you run some emery cloth along the race (bearing surface) to make sure it was smooth and clean? If you leave any part of the old seal or debris on the hub surface, damage the seal when installing it, not liberally packing the bearing with grease or the seal did not seat right you can have issues like yours. Make sure the seal is installed flush and if everything looked good as far as the axle and surfaces, pack more grease in the bearing. When you think there is enough grease in it, put more in. Put the grease in the palm of your hand and with the bearing held flat in the other hand repeatedly tap the bearing on your palm until grease comes out both sides. Then put more on it when you seat it.

When you say you can hear the bearings, I wonder what you are hearing. If it only started from doing the seals, I would go back in and see if something is rubbing. Bearings don't go bad quickly.

THE DRIVE SHAFT HAS TO BE REMOVE TO REPLACE THE PINION SEAL.DONT MATTER IF SEAL NOT LEAKING BUT SEAL NEED TO BE REPLACED TO KEEP OUT WATER DIRT OUT OF THE TRANSFER CASE TO KEEP FROM DAMAGING THE PINION BEARING.
