Thank you for getting back to me.Thats what i thought at first so i added break fluid. And just thinking about it thats when the light began to stay on permantly.

Mine is on; how do I check fluid? What do I do if it is low?

  • Toyota Ed May 11, 2010

The most common reason for the Brake light to be illuminated on the dash is low brake fluid in the master cylinder. As the front brakes wear, the brake fluid level drops proportionally. If the fluid is low, you may need to replace the front brake pads. Also, if the fluid IS low, adding some is not a great idea, because the extra fluid you put in will be squeezed back out when the pads are finally installed. Brake fluid will get on you paint, and the fluid will damage paint. Please go out and check the fluid level, let me know if it is indeed below the "MIN" line on the side of the cylinder.

How do I fixed if my car hand brake stuck 2001 toyota coralla manual

There are several things that can make a hand brake stick on. It possible the cable attached to the leaver has come off it guide. There is a cable running from each rear wheel to the handbrake leaver , a inner cable running through a outer housing , chick that the inner cable is free to move back and forward . if all the cables are free to slide adjust the rear brakes and hand brake as instructions . Slacken off the hand brake cable adjustment. Jack up the rear wheals and adjust the brake shoes till the brakes lock, then back off till the wheels are free to turn. Then pull the hand brake leaver on two clicks and adjust the hand brake cable till the rear wheels just start to bind, release the hand brake leaver and check the wheels are free to turn.

My red handbrake symbol keeps flashing what does this mean please

The handbrake light is usually not the handbrake light, it is a warning light for the whole braking system. You could have a problem with the abs system, low brake fluid in the master cylinder or brake pads worn down.
The brake fluid reservoir is easy to check, just lift up the hood and it should be right there mounted on top of the brake booster, in line where the brake pedal is.
The brake pads on modern vehicles have sensors that warn you when they need replacement, so have them checked.
Finally of course, you could have a loose wire on the handbrake warning switch which is mounted at the base of the handbrake, or if you're very lucky, you might just need to drop the handbrake just a fraction more before you drive off.

Why is the brake light on with constant beeping noise?

Check the handbrake (e-brake) switch, move the handle up and down vigorously. If the cables are sticking, the handle may not go all the way down, sending the signal that the e-brake is still engaged.

My brake light on my dash is constantly on

Look beneath the dash panel at brake pedal assembly. You should see the brake light switch, which completes a circuit to brake lights when you step on the brake pedal. Its likely this switch is malfunctioning. The circuit is closed (power to brake lights) when the brake pedal is not depressed. The circuit is suppose to be open (no power to brake lights) when your foot is off the brake pedal. Unplug the wire connector and unscrew to replace this brake light switch.

As for the knocking sound, is it when the vehicle is in motion? Or even when the vehicle is stopped and idling in park?07060338-db0d-4c14-8a08-ace846c99fb4.jpg

Hand break light on constantly and giving out warning soundon passat

Usually means that ABS (automatic braking system) has failed, but could also be failure of
the switch that detects hand brake on/off.

Need year of mfr for your Passat, and exact model number & engine size.
8th and 10th digits of VIN will do.
8th digit = engine size
10th digit = model year

1990 volvo 740gl far left corner of dashboard has a yellow light thats on constantly. a diagram of a car with a zigzag road. whats that mean.

Either you have a problem with the TCS (Traction Control System), or the TCS is switched off. Most cars with TCS have a button on the shift or the dash labeled "TCS" or "TCS OFF". Find the button, and press it with the car running in gear. If the light goes out, problem solved.
If you cannot manually disengage TCS (no button), or when you press the TCS button the light flashes, check all your brakes and make sure none are dragging or worn out. Also make sure all your tires are properly inflated and balanced, and none are worn out.
TCS works by controlling your brakes on slippery roads and will dynamically apply the brakes to each wheel in order to prevent a skid, even when your foot is not on the brake pedal. During normal driving, the TCS light is out and will either come on briefly or flash when it is active and preventing your car from going into a skid. When the light is on constantly, the system is disabled- either because it was shut off by the driver pressing the TCS (or TCS OFF) button, or because the system has detected a brake problem and automatically disabled it for safety reasons. Worn or dragging brakes, a tire that is flat or worn, or even a wheel that is badly out of balance will cause the system to disable itself, and a severe wheel alignment problem will also.
